“We always order the same thing: chips with salsa & guacamole, blood orange margaritas (or Coronas), and two quesadillas.”

“The pulled pork sandwich is insanely ridiculous but you can't go wrong with anything you order.”

“Cash only can be a pain in the neck, but they have an ATM upstairs to avoid the neighborhood ATM scavenger hunt while your partner stalls the waitress.”

  1. Definitely a solid choice for lunch, as I enjoyed my shrimp salad, but I did not like their guacamole at all, and the flavored margaritas were just too sweet for me (I know, it's a preference thing).  For my second margarita, I chose the original, and enjoyed that much more.

  2. One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood. Great food, fun and laid-back atmosphere. I love it for brunch, dinner, a quick bite before a movie across the street.

Love getting that booth by the window — I've had some great conversations tucked into that cozy spot!

  3. Get a fun flavored margaritas (like mango or passionfruit) and order a side of guac with the big baskets of chips they give you. I had the grilled catfish tacos, which were great. Flavorful and huge portions. Great place for groups.

  4. Dear Lobo, how I love your margaritas! Seriously, they are amazing and the main reason I'm even giving 4 stars(food-wise I'd give 3 stars)! The margarita is so fresh and the ratio of tequila is perfect!

The bartenders are also awesome! My best friend and I would find ourselves here quite often around happy hour while we were so exhausted/stressed from studying for our board exam and the margaritas and hilarious bartender were just what we needed.

As far as food goes, it's pretty standard tex-mex and always leaves me satisfied, but isn't the best tex-mex I've ever had. The portion sizes are huge so it's the perfect place to go if you're really hungry! I generally order the chimichangas or enchiladas– both are good and standard.

As far as dessert goes, I really do love their churros!!! They are served with icecream which is perfect for dipping! It's actually one of the only places in the area that sells churros so I often come and get churros and margaritas and leave happy!

They have a great outdoor area which is one of my favorite places to sit on a warm day/night. They are cash only, but there is an ATM upstairs!

  5. Stopped in just in time for brunch, went with steak and eggs and that came with a side of potatoes. Overall, pretty good size portions… What really won me over was the strawberry mimosa, perfectly infused with tequila!

  6. 3.25 stars, really good soup, bad entrees, surly waitress
Never been a fan of Tex-Mex (I love Mexican oddly though) so take this review with a grain of salt (the chicken needed some also frankly)

    Drink:

    Seasonal Sixpoint beer, 6 bucks,

3.5 stars Didn't list which one but turned out to be Diesel which is a solid and properly priced stout. I would have gotten the Negra Modelo if this was a Mexican place but  not here.)They don't list a non-alcoholic drink menu which is odd or I would have gotten an Aqua Fresca or Jarritos if they had it (kinda doubt they would but I would have liked to know). Proper priced as said (maybe a buck too much) and a good selection for a warming beer.

Someone else had a sangria, was a small portion but it tasted fine.

    Appetizers

Caldo De Pollo 10 bucks (Huge portion, well worth it)
Mexican soup for the soul (Chicken, peppers, cilantro, tomato, avocado, and rice [on the side to pour in] in a slightly spicy red broth (pepper and tomato based?)

4.5 stars, had the "Texas sized" portion, price was great for the portion size. soup was kind of odd. had the mixed flavor of sopa de tortilla, sopa caldillo, and posole. Large enough of a portion for the texas sized that I would recommend this as an entree way over our other entrees.

Others had Guac, did not like it as it was one dimensional (too much avocado) but I dislike avocado so others might give it more. Would give it a 2 but I won't add something to my score count that I know I would dislike.

    Entrees

Chicken Francese…I mean Pollo Borracho 14 or 16 bucks, I forget, not worth it for either price.
Boneless chicken breast pan-seared in beer and chicken broth with olives, peppers and onions. choose any 2 sides.
2 stars, reminded me of chicken francese in a kind of bad way, no beer or chicken in this broth, was lemony and peppery. Fried pickles were ok . Collard greens had a nice spicy kick. Large portion size but the sauce was bad and the chicken was rather gummy. Meh

Other people had the catfish, the bbq chicken, and the vegetarian burrito, tried a bit of each. Each were ok and definitely better than mine.

I would not recommend the spinach btw, was cold, entrees in general were also lukewarm.

    Service:
2.5 stars. Original woman was definitely surly. 2nd person was nice and helpful but was inexperienced. Took a long time to get our entrees but was really short to get our appetizers. Was not expecting good service but was worse than expected.

Improve your service and don't serve lukewarm food please.

  7. I'm not really into Mexican food, nor was this establishment able to change my mind. I am solely reviewing their brunch menu! (I will say my sister and her boyfriend come here about every week for either dinner or brunch) I've been going to Lobos with my sister and her boyfriend for years, I would guess around 7 years, so I am a seasoned reviewer.

The brunch is so good. Their buttermilk pancakes are so sweet! They taste like custard and they seem to just melt in your mouth in a good way. BEST BACON I HAVE EVER HAD. They know how to cook bacon crispy without burning it and that's very rare. Eggs are flavorful, they pair great with the pancakes. Home-fries are pretty standard. I usually get a mimosa and it's amazing not to mention strong. While you wait they give you chips and salsa l, add some hot sauce it's yummy.

The customer service is amazing, everyone there is so nice! 10 stars for customer service. You can eat outside, downstairs, or upstairs. I recommend upstairs, it's more comfy. It's very hard to find parking so come early and prepare to drive around. I never really had to wait too long for a table, maybe 5 minutes.

  8. Unfortunately this place is also going downhill, especially when compared to Lob in Park Slope. However, I can sense that they're trying to improve things… but definitely not hitting that point.

-Service was over attentive the last visit, which is a double edged sword. However far better than no service.

-Food was honestly just enjoyable on the latest visit. Prior trips were better, this time it was sloppy and seemingly rushed.

-Cash only, despite the other place taking cards. Keep that in mind.
