Lolita’s Kitchen
“We had burgers (I had the guac burger) and they were great, service was fantastic, and the fries were super crispy.”

OK…so it's a dive. But I ordered a burger with guac (waitress recommended) and it was delicious. Fries were crispy and burger was juicy and done right. Guac was excellent. Next time tacos maybe. Really inexpensive also. I'd give another star but I need to try more (and the "dive" aspect worries me a bit). Also I waited a REALLY long time.
Great food.
Great, authentic food.
I was in the neighborhood, waiting for a show to start at the 92 Y.
And right across the street, there it was, Lolita's Kitchen.
The storefront is underwhelming. And is definitely not as eye-catching as one would assume it'd be for the Upper East Side.
The restaurant is super super super casual.
However, with all of that said, the food is fantastic.
The space is as underwhelming as the storefront, but there are 10-15 tables for customers.
And to my surprise, there was an eclectic group of people eating in. Everywhere from Time Warner Cable guys dressed in their uniform, group of teenagers, and older women who obviously lived nearby.
You either place your to-go order with the cashier. And wait.
Or you sit. One of the ladies will bring you a paper menu.
The menu is as eclectic as the restaurant's customers. The menu covers everything from smoothies, to tacos, and burgers.
I decided to stick with more authentic Mexican food and ordered their guacamole, tostadas, and soft corn tortilla tacos.
The tostadas were excellent! Best I've had!
They came with avocado, shredded cheese, steak (or chicken or shrimp), sour cream, and salsa. The tostadas were also still crispy.
Each order comes with two tostadas.
The soft corn tortilla tacos also come two to the order.
Their red sauce is delicious too. It has a little kick, but not sour or too spicy.
I also order from Lolita's Kitchen via Seamless frequently, after I discovered them that evening.
And the food has always been consistent. They arrive within 20-30 minutes, with all the food intact and delicious.
The food is cheap too!
It doesn't get any better.
More of a take out place though there are plenty of tables for you to sit it if you wish.
I had the enchiladas which was good but a bit on the smaller side. Maybe I should try the burritos or guac burgers next time.
It's a good get food on the way home from the subway station kind of place to me.
