Huge portions here. I liked my bandeja paiso (spelling?) which was rice, beans, sweet plantain, deep fried pork skin called Chicharron, a grilled steak. It was great. Super rich in flavor. I thought the steak was really nicely made, not overdone, and definitely yummy. I think the chicharron was hard to chew so I ended up chewing on the juicy meat portion. Oh well. My dish was missing the arepa, but the funny thing is that there was no way I could fit that in after finishing all that steak and rice and beans.
I came in around 11 am, and I was surprised that no one else was there. There were two ladies preparing the glasses and getting things ready. We were not pampered at all. I think they came over to ask how I was once or twice. It was off the beaten path, I guess.
I still really enjoyed it. My ironie du sort was when they chased me outside which is nice, but usually when someone thinks you are cool and want to make friends…the fun of it all was that they thought I didn't pay. So I delightfully and patiently walked back inside and pointed to where I left the bill on the plastic dish they left on our table. And we all laughed out loud together. Thus is life!
