  1. The place I'd liken Lot 2 to is Skinner's Loft in Jersey City.  Not in terms of the space, as Lot 2 is a fraction of the size with more modest, old Brownstone-like wood decor and romantic lighting.  Not in terms of the service either, as even on Valentine's Day it was much friendlier and more efficient than Skinner's.  It's a dead-ringer in terms of the food though: well done traditional American cooking to be exact.  So many restaurants in Brooklyn go the ethnic route, but it's important to remember that there is still a market for this; everyone wants something simple and classic every so often instead of some crazy food concepts, and it's on this notion that Lot 2 delivers.

Like I said this was Valentine's Day, but in my experience you're more likely to get a lesser meal on V-Day than a normal day because of the pressure on the kitchen.  The menu was pared down but had some great options for $65 per person, especially compared to other places nearby that I'd researched.  I got the steak tartare to start which was a great example of a classic.  Not too much seasoning and a generous portion with a few kinds of bread.  My date had the scallops which was actually just 1 single scallop.  It was seared perfectly but the portion was laughable.  For my main I got the hanger steak (yes steak twice, I would've gotten it for dessert too if possible) which was great.  Hanger steak gets thought of as a lesser steak but this one was definitely a standout.  It was cooked properly with a light char.  It came with roasted potatoes, a mixed green salad, and garlic sauce all which were superb.  My date got the striped bass which she loved; I tried a bit and they cooked it perfectly without overseasoning.  For my dessert I got the brownie which was good, and my date got a bon bon which was tiny but was supposed to be good.  For drinks I had 2 of a special cocktail they had that day with bourbon which was well made; I ended up having 2.

This is about as well as you're going to do going out (legitimately) for Valentine's Day in NY nowadays.  It came to $200 total.  Luckily during the year the menu looks much more reasonable.  This place makes me want to move to the other side of the park.  I hope to be back soon!

  2. I don't want to review a restaurant this cozy and familiar. It's literally too close to home. A Yelp review, in all of its reach, potentially jeopardizes the delicate balance of being a regular. All you really need to know about Lot 2 is that it's just about perfect, in every sense. No details required.

  3. So as usual my friend and I were looking to hit up a good join in  Park Slope. Lot 2 was one of the top suggested even though it's in South Slope, but reviews said they have a sick burger and you know, we love our burgers so off to Lot 2 we went.

We walked in to a dimly lit, rustic and super artsy interior. A guy behind the bar greeted us with a friendly smile and told us to sit wherever we'd like. Our waitress came over with some menus and water and we starving humans ordered away. I love that their menu is very small. No indecisiveness on our parts.

We ordered the house pickled salad, a different salad with anchovies, nuts and oranges and 2 Burgers. Also a couple of glasses of red.

The pickled salad was fabulous. I loved the veggies they served and it was not too acidic. The other salad was alright, wasn't crazy over it. But the burger!! Damn that burger was bangin'. We ordered them medium rare and they were just right. Oozing with juice and flavor we devoured that beast. The fries they come with were just as delicious, of course as they're fried in duck fat!!

I was super full by the time I was done my burger but my friend still needed his dessert so he ordered the cake they had that day. It was a 3 x milky type of cake. I had a bite but was not smitten.

Overall, we had a great evening. The ambiance was nice, quiet and chilled. The waitress was on point and the food was priced right too. We'll definitely be back for that burger.

  4. Yum!

Loved the grilled cheese. A huge sandwich made with two huge, thick slices of bread with cheese and a pepper jam on top. Everything works together so well. A bit too much for one though, definitely share it with three or four people.

The burger was good. Very seasoned, a bit oo salty at times but gnwerall good. Didn't get the hype over the fries though. Loved the pickles. And we got the pickle plate and ironically, that didn't come with any actual pickles, just pickled beets, cabbage, onion, and cauliflower.

The fried green tomatoes were ok. Nicely fried with a zesty aioli, but I'm not a huge fan of fried green tomatoes.

    Delicious food with competent service!

  5. Wow. I can't believe that it took me five years to finally try this place.

Last night, a friend and I came here for their burger before heading to another friend's jazz gig, also in South Slope. It was amazing, and perhaps the best burger that I have had in the city. Cooked medium-rare and topped with melted cheese, it was accompanied by both tasty pickles and four delicious fries. Thickly sliced and cooked in duck fat, I only now know what the perfect fry tastes like.

In spite of the cold, we washed it all down with cans of Porkslap Pale Ale. Priced at just $5 a pop, we couldn't go wrong here. Furthermore, the service was super-friendly, and the layout warm and inviting. Lot 2 is a place that I highly recommend!

  6. My GF and I came here on a cold Saturday night to give this place a try after seeing reviews on the Daily News. We were so excited to try the food but boy was it disappointing. It wasn't busy when we arrived and ordered our food but yet it took almost 35 minutes to receive our food. We ordered the winter salad with bitter greens which wasn't amazing and kind of weird tasting. It felt like they just threw some greens and leftover fruits onto a plate and charge 13 dollars for it. My gf ordered the brick chicken and I got the burger and fries with the side of mac and cheese.

When the orders finally arrived we dug in because we were starving after waiting so long. The burger was average and not worth the hype because all the other reviews stated it was one of the best burgers which it was not, shake shack taste better than this burger. The duck fat fries were just KFC looking potato wedges that were over fried. My GF's chicken was dry and salty but the gravy was pretty tasty (only thing good at this place). The mac and cheese was solid nothing amazing. All in all this place was not amazing and the prices were a little expensive for mediocre food.

  7. Went here tonight for dinner.  Drinks were good, food was great and the service was excellent.  For entrées my wife had the burger and I had the pork chop.  I love the fact the menu is as small as it is.  They do a few things, do them well, and do them fresh.  Will certainly go back soon.

  8. The rest of the food was good; not amazing but DAT BURGER. Don't know what they did with the meat and duck fat but whatever it is; it's good. Doesnt even need the bread. you only get 3 fries so eat it fast before your guest eats it all.

love the interior; quaint, romantic, dark, and friendly staff. good for dates!
