My girl and I tried this place for the 1st time yesterday. After seeing all the pics on yelp… we ordered a GrandMa Pie to go…It was pretty good. Not the best grandma slice but pretty good. Thought the crust was a bit thick for a grandma slice… Anyway, we plan to try out a few more things next time
Devoid of glamour, Louie's looks like a safe bet for plain slices but the Yelp affirmations convinced me to try pasta. The penne arrabiata was more complex than usual. I can't tell if it was by the book but it was excellent. I also like the grandma slice featuring fresh mozzarella.
The service here is the reason why this place is getting a 4 star. The food is good too. They are nice, friendly and super efficient. I will definitely be going back here. It's a shame i live too far for home delivery.
I love how close Louie's is to my place of employment because when I'm working late and getting HANGRY, I can always count on getting a huge pile of delicious comfort food at Louie's.
First- the grandma slice is everything it proclaims to be and better. Snagging a corner piece is a good move since you get even more of the delicious crisp edges. I also like the regular slices, especially the white slice.
The chicken parm hero is comically large, as in it is always a two meal portion and sometimes three. The chicken pieces are giant. The sandwich is delicious. Sadly, the eggplant parm suffers from not being fried (I think; otherwise, I just got a soggy eggplant). Minus one star because I love eggplant parm and Louie's doesn't quite cut it.
Can't wait to come and try the homemade pastas! I have a string of night shifts coming up so I am excited to eat myself into a food coma.
I've been here a couple of times, normally for take out, once for delivery and dining in. We ordered a whole Grandma pie for delivery, it was massive. Everyone loved it, but I think it was a lil too much for me. We've ordered the agnolotti pesto a couple of times, its really rich and flavorful. I've never eaten it all by myself, but even if I could, someone would've grabbed some from me. That's probably everyone's fav. I tried the Black Linguine Seafood once and we didn't really care for it. I guess it's just a bit bland when compared to the Agnolotti.
Great prices, friendly owner.
I was so excited seeing that they have black pasta! And they cook it al dente! And the seafood is so fresh and well cooked!
Why am I only finding out about this gem??? I am born and raised in Jackson Heights and somehow this place flew by radar unnoticed. Looking from the outside, this place doesnt really catch your attention. However, once I walked in I knew they were something special. Firstly, the front man was VERY welcoming and kind. This pizzeria differs from others that I've visited because they have a nice dining area where you can enjoy your food whereas other places have you standing or only have 1-2 tables available. We were easily able to seat 7 people in my party. I had to order the food at the register but that was fine with me. I ordered a corner slice sicilian and a chicken cesar salad. Others in my group ordered the following: eggplant parm hero, white slice, green salad, penne a la vodka and plain slice. I TASTED EVERYTHING and EVERYTHING was PHENOMENAL. The front man even asks you what temperature you want the pizza; medium or hot! Amazing!
To those reading: I have a lot to compare this place to because I am a pizza fanatic. Prior to this visit, I would have pizza regularly at places like Joe's Pizza, Rubirosa, Keste, Danny's in Queens and Lucali's and Julianna's in Brooklyn. I use to think the traditional slice was better at Joe's but life has since changed. LOUIE'S IS WAY BETTER. What's even better is that its located right here in Jackson Heights!!
I cannot wait to return and eat there again. I definitely recommend this place for your traditional cheese slice. WORTH IT.
It is good to find a good pizza place around Jackson Heights /Elmhurst area. I have ordered here several times for class pizza parties. Their pizzas have the perfect amount of sauce, cheese and crust. The prices are also very reasonable at $12 for a plain pie and $14 for a pepperoni pie. They have also always delivered on time or earlier which is important because of our hectic schedule. The only downside is that they are always very busy when I call. Nevertheless they were always accommodating and the orders are always correct and timely.
