Louisiana Joe’s Sandwich Shop

“Po Boy was exceptional (could just use a slightly better roll) as were the truffle fries.”

“The Shrimp Po Boy and Jambalaya were outstanding, hopefully the store will extend its hours past 3pm!”

“Shrimp po'boy, truffle fries, oyster and shrimp po'boy and a side order of boudin for hubby and I. The po' boy reminded me of one that I had in NOLA.”

  1. Waited patiently for Louisiana Joe's Sandwich Shop to open.  On my first visit I    was fortunate to get in and order within the hour prior to them closing at 3pm. Before your hand even touches their front door you can lightly hear Louisiana music egoing from within. Once in. You are greeted warmly by the cashier. Family-friendly staffing. Their menu literally on the wall, so your eyes are gazing at all those Cajun options from Po-Boy., shop sandwiches and American Classic & Breakfast All Day., to name a few.  For those needing a little more time deciding. Grab a menu., step to the side.! Lol.  Their floorplan very simple. Seating for twelve., colorful chairs and aluminum /steel tables. Lovely high chair/tables nestled along the wall. Ordered: Roast beef sandwich. Prior to leaving the shop. I asked the owner whether he had any customer coming in inquiring substitution. Since his Grand Opening he in fact had several  request about his Gumbo.
My second visit the owner promised pork/shrimp free Gumbo. Giving me chicken Gumbo instead.  My take out order was Pastrami on Rye with order of Hand Cut Fries.

  2. Had lunch again at Louisiana Joe's and had another great experience. The shrimp and sausage gumbo was very good. It was not too spicy, just enough of a kick to it. My coworker had the shrimp jambalaya and was blown away. It was the first time that he had Cajun food. He was already talking about what to try next time as was I.

  3. I took a trip to New Orleans this past summer with some buddies and it was an amazing experience (especially from a food aspect). I've longed for some NOLA grub ever since and was ecstatic to learn about this sandwich shop.

Enter Louisiana Joe's and you'll feel slightly transferred to the big easy as there's jazz music playing and a few signs scattered about that give off that Louisiana vibe. The menu is extensive with New Orleans favorites (po' boys, gumbo, muffaletta sandwiches) as well as more common items (burgers, salads, sandwiches) with a little creative/bayou twist. There's also breakfast for you early risers.

It was tough deciding what to get, but I went with a shrimp po'boy and jambalaya. When the food was brought to my table, it looked amazing….and it also looked like I may have ordered too much as the portions were huge (though having not had much breakfast I was confident I could tackle this tasty endeavor). The po'boy had wonderful pieces of fried shrimp and was well-dressed (tomato, lettuce, pickles, and remoulade sauce) all stuffed inside a puffy piece of bread. There may have been a little too much bread in ratio to shrimp, but it was an item I'd surely re-devour. As for the jambalaya, it was near incredible with great amounts of rice, succulent chicken, tender shrimp, and juicy sausage. A little heavy on the oil towards the end, but flavor-wise it more than did the trick. By summoning some voodoo magic, I came quite close to finishing this hefty meal.

Overall, this was a delightful meal at Louisiana Joe's and is worth a return trip as it does a fine job in bringing some "Nawlins" cooking to Long Island.

  4. So yesterday was Admin Assistant appreciation day, and while I normally don't like to feed into these made up holidays, it meant I was the one being fed. Thanks boss man.
Everyone between our offices ordered something different. There was jambalaya to Étouffée to blackened what ever you wanted. They delivered everything neatly wrapped. You'd think that when you're placing an order for 10+ people SOMETHING would get messed up but lo and behold every order was perfect. I got the blackened catfish wrap which came with lettuce and pickles and this amazing Cajun dressing. I thought the catfish would be too fishy but it was perfect and flaky and buttery. Can't wait to dine in person.

OH P.S. them truffle fries though
