I've tried the pad thai with chicken, drunkman noodles with tofu, and pad see eew with shrimp — everything is standard sugary middle America "strip-mall" style.
Wow- this food truck is incredible. On Thursdays this truck is located on 46th and Park with a slew of other trucks for the big buildings nearby.
Not much of a line at 1pm, but cash only. Meal took about 6 minutes to come out – lunch special of fried chicken breast served over your choice of rice (coconut is my favorite) and I tried the green curry mayo. Comes with a few broccoli and carrots. So delicious.
The Thai tea was incredible – the flavors were very different than I've had before.
The spicy fried rice with basil and chicken was a tad spicy but not overwhelming. It was piping hot and quite enough food for 1 person. Could've used a little more chicken but still worth it.
So sad this place is only near me once a week…but maybe that's a good thing 🙂
I love getting pad se ew and make it spicy because it's sweet as is, and the spice level bumps it up. I got that today with chicken from Luckyim and it was wonderful! I would recommend this place over any thai restaurant in the area….and again it comes from a food truck???
They make it fresh and you can tell with every bite…. so happy right now!
Very long line during lunch (30 minutes). What most people seem to do is order, run an errand and come back much later. The food is worth the wait….I usually get the Pad Thai (made spicy) or Drunken Noodles. Both chicken dishes (as well as everything else) are cheap options – between $6-7. Overall, some of the best Thai food in the FiDi, certainly over many of the restaurants.
Normally I am very skeptical of food carts, especially ones in the city, but this cart definitely breaks the mold. The cart was very clean and the food was delicious. I had the drunken noodles with chicken and Thai dumplings which were both delicious and for the price well worth it. I will definitely be back!!!
3.5 stars. As far as food carts go, this one is definitely not a bad option. $8 for most entrees, including the bowl of drunken noodle with chicken that I ordered. Unfortunately though, I didn't really find the Thai food here to be memorable in any sense. Flavoring was strong and I liked that it had a significant spicy kick, but I thought the noodles were extremely thick and a bit too dense. I wish that they had been cut up into smaller pieces.
It's a really filling portion for lunch. If you go around noon, prepare to wait at least 30 minutes even if the line doesn't look too bad! (It's the food preparation that takes time).
Definitely the best Thai food I've had in FiDi. The menu is pretty short with the standard popular Thai items – pad thai, pad see ew, drunkman nooodles, red curry, basil fried rice, Thai ice tea, and steamed dumplings – and each was under $10. Also, it's CASH ONLY.
I tried the drunkman noodles with shrimp ($9), and I would highly recommend it! The noodles were really SPICY, so definitely consider asking for mild spice if you don't want to spend the rest of your afternoon trying to figure out how to get the spicy flavor out of your mouth. There was a decently generous portion of pretty large peeled shrimps, which were very tasty as well. There is no shortage of flavor with this dish, so definitely come with an appetite!
For a food truck, the wait was much longer than I expected. I put in my order right before 12:30 and ended up standing there past 12:45.
Came here during lunch on a weekday and found the line short, service fast, and food terrific. I don't think there are many Thai options in this area so this is a nice change from the usual Halal or general American faire. There is a number that you can call ahead of time to order and avoid waiting in line. It is best to call ahead of time if you're going to lunch after 12pm because that line is looooong.
We've had drunkman's noodles and pad see ew from here and they were both delicious. You don't get many toppings options here, however. They only offer chicken, tofu, or veggies. I guess this helps them lower the costs. For a to go container filled to the brim and a cost of $8, not too shabby at all. Definitely worth a visit anytime you're looking for a quick, cheap lunch.
