Lucy’s Vietnamese Kitchen

“It's a pretty small place so I'd recommend ordering delivery or pick up unless you have really good timing and can snag some seats.”

“lucy's Bahn mi sandwiches are my favorite, I tried both their chicken and brisket Bahn mi's and it was fantastic.”

“I was surprised that the shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, and smoked brisket ended up being such a subtle departure from traditional beef pho.”

  1. Absolutely delicious.  A little family-owned, hole-in-the wall place, but a welcome addition to Bushwick.  I hadn't had Vietnamese food much before here, but my boyfriend loves it and suggested me try it.  I fell in love with the Pho Banh Mi brisket sandwich.  Incredible.  The menu is limited, but that is okay, because everything you try is great.

The staff was friendly and sweet.  It's small inside, so if you go when it's busy, don't plan on sitting down, but they do take out and delivery that is always quick and delicious.  The sandwiches were huge too, and for the quality of the food, the prices are great.  I will be a regular customer.

  2. I luckily found this place while searching for a new lunch spot near my office. Thank you Yelp GOD for helping me stumble upon this place. Here's a breakdown of my experience:

    Food:
    A+++
Best Pho in the NYC. I've had a lot of pho in my life especially living in the west coast. This just has pure mom and pop / authentic flavors. First off, they serve brisket pho…… That alone is a reason to come and check it out. I've also tried the brisket banh-mi.. it's also amazing. I manage to get my coworkers hooked as well.

    Vibe:
Super dope vibe. I love the communal tables and just the feel of the spot. The pictures and the menu makes you feel comfy to stay and eat.

    Price:
It's a bit pricier than most pho in the city but it's because the brisket pho really does the order justice… You just take one bite of the Pho and you will forget how much you've paid.

    Service:
Amazing service. Everyone is helpful especially a dude name Kevin.

  3. Was searching for some dinner takeout on yelp, something nearby, quick and tasty, I decided on Lucy's Kitchen. I never tried banh mi and figured this was the moment. My first impression of the space is that it was really tiny and indeed a kitchen, but that was fine by me because I was taking it to go. First impression of the staff was that they were definitely the late shift youngsters. The teenage looking girl took my order, and while I waited, she held personal conversations with her other teenaged looking coworkers. She casually berated them about their schedules and school work as if I wasn't sitting in the 200 sq ft space with them. She was being a bit of a mean girl right in front of me. Awkward.

    WHAT WE GOT:
We got a lemongrass chicken banh mi, a brisket banh mi and a pho soup with brisket. First of all, the portions are generous. When my boyfriend and I got our food, we realized we should have gotten one banh mi with the soup. We're pretty greedy but one would've been sufficient for both of us. The soup is also really big – they packaged the noodles and meat separately which was good.

    END RESULT:
The brisket was a million times better than the lemongrass chicken. We took one bite out of the chicken banh mi and ended up dumping it. The chicken was cold and the texture was really off putting (slimy and ground). The lemongrass flavor also didn't help. I highly recommend getting the brisket over the chicken. The brisket was tender with great flavor and a touch of spice. The only thing I would change about the banh mi in general is take out the bean sprouts – it did nothing for the sandwich.

Overall, meh experience with my first time having a banh mi.

  4. I had the tofu sandwich and it was super tasty. I love the fact that they offered a vegan option, by removing the aioli. The tofu was delicious. Even my meat-lover friend agreed!
There is only one table inside, so better have it to go. The place is really cute though and it smells so good inside!

  5. Oh baby, or should I say oh banh mi?
How have I put off eating at Lucy's for so long? Just a few minutes walk from the Myrtle-Wycoff train station, this place is a flavorful gem for sure.

It's a tiny little place, so prepare to come at off-hours (we came around 4p and it was fairly vacant) or to take your food to go. Fair warning though, once you smell the flavorful broths and spices, you won't want to walk out without taking a bite or sip.

Rus and I got the number one and two to share (that's the pho — we got ours with chicken — and the pho banh mi). The food was served pretty quickly after we ordered and paid (cash only, though they do have a fairly low-fee ATM).

OMG this banh mi though. The bread was so perfect. Not too crunchy (I hate when bread cuts the roof of your mouth! No problems with that here), but the perfect balance between a flaky outside and soft inside. It also tasted kind of like a subtly seasoned garlic bread. Yum! The brisket was delicious, almost smoky, so much piled onto the sandwich. Definitely try this one if you're a meat eater (and heads up that they do have a veggie sandwich & pho option).

Rus' pho was great too. The broth was so aromatic, couldn't stop drinking it. The chicken was moist and tender (not dried out at all).

I can't wait to visit Lucy's once it starts snowing (ok, we can skip the snow) and sip on that flavorful broth while I watch people slug on by.

  6. *** Foodies paradise ***
~ Cash only – ATM on site,
~ Smoked brisket pho is the dish to get here,
    ~ Seating is limited,
~ kinda hard to find parking,

    My rating:
    Broth – 5 star
Smoked brisket – 7 out of 5 star
    Noodles – 5 star
    Overall taste – 5 star

Lemme get straight to the point, this is hands down, the best pho I have ever tasted in America!

And I've had my fair share of pho's around the country, but none of them were as rich  and flavorful as this one… Also none of them had a melt in your mouth, 14 hour smoked brisket, as an option, so here is your bate carnivores…

And talking about brisket, I loved the amount that I'm getting with my pho, it was Plentiful and enough to share for two…  I had to mention it, because that is what brought me Here in the first place.

I guess the only way to find out if I'm on to something, is to actually pay a visit to this little charming place, and try it for yourself. I promise, you won't be disappointed!

Just remember to save a spot for me at the communal table, you will see a lot more of me, especially during the cold winter months.

  7. I got the tofu pho here at Smorgasborg in Industry City. It is delicious!!! The tofu is very lightly fried, the flavor of the broth (totally vegetarian!) is amazing. There was just enough mushrooms, bok choy, and onions in the Pho as well. Duck sauce, hot sauce, bean sprouts, and jalapeños are on the tables. My husband got the beef sandwich and really loved it as well. The prices are affordable. I can;t wait to come back here!

  8. Concise menu of expertly prepared Vietnamese classics. The Lemongrass Tofu was some of the best I have ever had. I tried it on a Banh Mi-the perfect balance of textures and flavors. Fresh bread, crisp vegetables, and perfectly marinated lemongrass tofu. I can't wait to try this tofu in their Pho, which also looks delicious.

Super tiny space, with only one community table which seats about 10 people. So, you might have to wait a minute for a seat, but it's totally worth it. I love the red lighting and cute homey decor. BYOB! I recommend running across the street to the bodega and grabbing a beer with go with your meal. Very friendly and fast service.
