Luigi’s Pizzeria

got penne vodka and finally think i found my place. Good portions and tasted great! Happy girl here! hope its consistant
Best gluten free pizza I've ever had! I would give this place a higher rating, but the staff is not the friendliest. They accidentally gave us a regular pie instead of gluten free and then acted like it was our fault and were getting angry with us! All in all, it's a casual spot to enjoy a piece of pizza.b
Lots of pizzas by the slice available. Cheap prices. The veggies on my pizza were fresh. Quick service.
Low key dining but not a hole in the wall. My kind of place!
I love this place since they have gluten-free pizza! It's a pretty solid pizza, and they deliver! Try going out of the ordinary- their Hawaiian pizza is quite delicious!
Whew! People sure are getting heated over Luigi's. After reading a few of these reviews, all I have to say is that it's probably to my benefit that yo no hablo espanol. (See what I did there? Cute, right?)
Anyways, though, I've frequented Luigi's more times than I care to count seeing as it's the best and closest place to get a slice near my apartment. I usually go for the Buffalo or the Jerk Chicken (Is that what it's called? It's the spicy, Sicilian pizza.) Both are good; if I had to pick, I like the Jerk Chicken more. Sometimes I get garlic knots, but they're just okay, in my opinion.
Now, on to the service… what can I say, they're definitely not warm and fuzzy. Yes, I've seen them yell at people, and no, I don't think it's right. Especially when they're yelling at an elderly woman with a cane. I usually just run in and out, and keep the talking to an absolute minimum. I will say that asking for marinara sauce when I order garlic knots should not warrant an eye roll — Hello! The pizza guys down the street give me marinara sauce regardless of what I order!
With that said, though, Luigi's get's four stars because it has good, cheap pizza and it's near my apartment. The service is what it is. They're still nicer than the Midnight Express guys who give me attitude when I ask for extra ketchup.
Have ordered food from this place a few times. It's ok – just a standard Italian food and pizza joint. Pizza, pastas, salads, and all types of Italian standards. Nice little dining area off to the side. Reminds me of an old pizza place back on LI that I used to hang out at and play video games as you still get fountain sodas in that waxy paper cup. Pizza is below average, and getting pasta dishes here are a bit disppointing. Kind of reminds me of pre-made stuff you get at at a supermarket and sauce from a jar. Pizza is bland, sauce is too sweet, and too doughy.
Just really not all that good as compared to the many pizza joints in the area. Overall bland food, and subpar pizza. Skip it and head either way to better food choices.
I was torn on how to rate Luigi's. The pizza was actually one of the best slices I've had. The tomato sauce had the right blend of tangy sweetness and spices, the perfect ratio of cheese to sauce and the crust crackled as I bit into it. Unfortunately, I noticed that the very nice man servicing me had dirty grungy fingernails. Eeck..I wouldn't eat near the top crusty edge but still I couldn't help but think, dude, are you kneading my pizza dough? I I have to say, that definitely quelled the feeling of serendipity that had started to rise, along with my appetite. So unfortunately, pizza gets a 4-5 star and hygiene a 1 star. A repeat, unfortunately, is not in order.
I went for the lunch special, two slices and a drink for $5.25. The slices were huge and so delicious and I immediately had a smile on my face because I knew I was in for lots of yummy flavor with a great crust. I also like how the guy that takes your order always yells at me, then he smiles. Between the clean seating area, the delicious pizza and the charm of the staff, this is my favorite pizza place in Yorkville.
