  1. I've been to Luke's Lobster a bunch but this was my first visit to this location. They are all pretty much the same, maybe just some specials that are different.

My girlfriend and I came for lunch after a movie on Sunday. We split the Noah's Ark which is basically a lobster roll, shrimp roll, and crab roll split. It also comes with four crab claws, two bags of chips or slaw, and two drinks. The lobster roll is the clear cut winner but the crab and shrimp rolls hold their own. It's probably the way to go when you're eating for two.

To me, I've had a bunch of lobster rolls in my day. Luke's lobster in my opinion is the best option for NYC people craving a seafood rolls. Always a great meal.

  2. Portions are really small. Major downside. But I like this place a lot better than red hook. The shrimp rolls and crab rolls are good but of course the lobster roll is the best. There isn't a lot of mayo it's more buttery. They have gf buns too unfortunately they charge $2 extra for it. Overall I would recommend this place if you need to satisfy a craving but I will still be in search of other places that serve amazing lobster rolls. Usually the workers here are pretty friendly which is a plus.

  3. The.Best.Lobster.Roll.Ever.

    the end.

  4. Smaller location but seems to be the norm for the area. Friendly workers and definitely has the shack/seafood vibes. Ordered the lobster roll. Being my first lobster roll in New York, I was eager to try.

Good with big chunks of lobster which is always enjoyable. Looks deceivingly small, about the size of a Nathan's hot dog, but was surprisingly filling! I wish the bread had garlic or butter on it but it was still tasty. Want to try other lobster roll places before coming back.

  5. 3.5 stars for the delicious buttery goodness of the roll, but it was definitely not filling. And the clam chowder I ordered on my second visit was not even warm. It was hard to appreciate it even though it had such potential to be yummy…

With consistent 4-star reviews, I expected more. I first came during spring a year or so ago, and had the lobster roll ($16). It was delicious, but I'd balk at buying a teeny lobster roll at that price regularly when I'm not that huge of a fan. The next time, I brought a visiting friend who wanted to try lobster rolls and she was SO impressed. I bought the combo with a half-roll and soup that added up to ~$20, and she had the lobster roll. She even came back to buy a combo to-go for her flight.

  6. Stopped in here before a Barnes & Noble event I was attending. Was pleasantly surprised.

I'll usually avoid places like this; I'm not big on the small lobster roll for 1 billion dollars that's upped to 2 million dollars because the place is tiny and that's suppose to make it seem cool and hipster. Luke's Lobster wasn't like that though.

Without a doubt Luke's is small. We're talking three tables that fit four people max and some room to que up for food, but that's it. Don't come here with a large group cause you'll be disappointed.

The food? Delicious. Another reason I try to avoid places like this is that their food is usually not great and leaves you feeling even worse after taking out a mortgage for it. Luke's isn't cheap, but it's not as expensive as other places. Think food truck prices. I had a crab roll–$13. It was amazing! Easily the best I've ever had.

Luke's isn't the cheapest place, but it's not the most expensive either. It's super small so make sure you're not rolling deep. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy this place as much as I did.

  7. I can't say I really get the hype. Loved the vibe and the chill staff who work here, but the food itself didn't do that much for me. Had the Taste of Maine, which includes a half lobster roll, half crab roll, half shrimp roll, two crab claws, chips and a drink (beer=same price as soda during happy hour!) for $24.

The rolls were small (yes I know they were halves) and cold. The toasted and buttered bread/roll was the best part. The meat was flavored okay, but nothing spectacular. If I'm gonna pay $16 for a lobster roll make it a really good lobster roll. You know, buttery, luscious chunks of lobster that are smooth but not overcooked.

The texture was good but I just wished it was a bit saltier and a bit more…luxurious? Tasty? Succulent? It was missing something for sure.

  8. I always come here thinking that I'll have to get 2 lobster rolls because I like them so much and I won't be full and…I'm always wrong.  The rolls are always fresh and the lobster so chunky – one roll is filling and satisfying.  Friendly, cool staff…  I guess you can be cool when you're serving lobster all day, right.

My pet peeve is places that shred the lobster and stretch it by adding a lot of mayo as if people don't know better.  If you like chunks of lobster, this is where you need to be. Lobster. Butter. Roll, dassit.

I'll def be back.  My sis came with me and she grabbed one to go.  Then went back the next week.
