SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS AREA, I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY BAGELS ORDERED HERE AND AT BELREUKLEUN (or whatever) HAVE HARDBOILED EGGS INSTEAD OF SCRAMBELED EGGS. And there's no BEC on the menu, it seems like the only place you can order that around here is at the deli. And everything is so slow. I know this isn't Manhattan but I just don't understand why every cafe in this area just sucks at bagels. I don't wanna go to Dunkin or Starbucks but I'm seriously starting to feel like I have too. It's like every cafe around here has a good idea, but then either the coffee is too sour, the bagels are gross, there's HARDBOILED eggs in my BEC. I just can't. But Lula bagels has good coffee and the mozzarella panini is good. There's just a lack of consistency!!!!!!!! But that's like everywhere not just here.

Love their iced lattes and cream cheese. They have different types like in other cafes, but they taste fresh. I only tried their sandwich specials once. Since then I always want to try their sandwich specials but never get a chance to because they close early.

Meh. Overpriced and not genuine Brooklyn bagels. Not that I'm an expert, but the bagels were not memorable. They had muffins and pastries as well. I had a zucchini chocolate chip cranberry muffin which was an interesting combination, but tasted surprisingly bland, save for the chocolate. Also the chai latte was very weak because they used one chai tea bag to brew the chai, rather than using a chai concentrate. It was pretty crowded, but we did find two seats. Unfortunately, we only had about 5 minutes before customers were crowding around us waiting for a seat. Eventually, two people saw that we were finishing up our breakfast and stood over us until we left. Gross.

Basically, if this place were to exist anywhere that has typical bagel shops in the vicinity, it would not survive for long. It's almost a travesty that it exists, this is the type of establishment you'd find thriving in some southern state suburb.

Got a tuna/avocado sandwich for about $7 I think. Bagel was mediocre, toasted until it was burnt, and was lightly filled with thin layers of an uninspiring tuna salad and avocados. Definitely not coming back, I'll settle for a simple bagel w/ shmear instead, despite my fervent love of bagel sandwiches.

    UPDATE:
Alright so the owner reached out to me to address the problems I had with the customer service and food quality. I really appreciate that so it gets a bit of a star boost. Hopefully the next time I try out this place things will be better!

You know I try. I really really try. But I just ordered delivery from them and was so excited to get some bagels delivered to me!
Also ordered a caprese sandwich, which was SO OILY, but they forgot one of my bagels!
When I called to inform them they were like
"Nope. Everything was in the bag." Without asking who I was, what I ordered, etc. Only after I insisted I was missing a bagel did the guy I was speaking to sigh really annoyed at ME and go "Okay. I'll call you back."

And then he hung up on me.

Of course he did call me back twenty minutes later to tell me that they were just going to take my bagel off of my ticket, no option for them to deliver it or any apology. Just the same S**Tsippin attitude I've become accustomed to from this place.

So this place is PACKED to the fullest on weekend mornings. Be prepared for a long wait.

The iced chai I ordered was perfectly sweet and really hit the spot. The whole wheat bagel with raspberry cream cheese? Vaguely savory and sweet, not enough tartness for my taste but still super delicious.

I can't wait to come back and try their million other flavors of cream cheese!

Halelula for reasonably priced coffee! (see what I did there?) Small for $1?!?!! Oh hell yes.

Bagel & cream cheese (although a bit too bread-y and not crispy enough for my taste) is also a reasonable $2.50.

Friendly people, sunny, small but comfortable with a fair amount of seating in the windows and the back, good music.

    Will be back!

p.s. Minimum credit card charge is $7.

The owner of Lula reached out to me to address and apologize for some of my earlier concerns about the spot. He was incredibly gracious and offered me a gift card to try some new bites and see if my mind changed. The customer service was much appreciated. I like that he was not aggressive but simply hoping to find new ways to improve his bagel cafe.

We went on Sunday around 11:30 AM. The place was bustling. It's a thin and narrow cafe so you may have a hard time finding seating during a busy time. I ordered an iced chocolate ($4.75) and it was fantastic. Definitely a perfect guilty-pleasure drink for me. I was much more impressed with it than I was with the mocha. I will be back for the iced chocolate alone.

We also ordered bagels and got them to stay. We crammed into a bench at the side of the store and chatted pretty easily (it's still not too loud even with all the commotion). The bagels are not my favorite, they lack the fluffiness of most NY bagels I've encountered but when you need a bagel, it hits the spot.

I am improving my review to four stars because I'm seriously impressed by the customer service, charmed by the small cafe, thrilled by the idea of a ice chocolate but not sold on the actual bagels. A solid spot.
