In for lunch, and my first visit. I had not read any reviews, so I would like to think I could be completely objective.
The restaurant has an old world Italian feel, from the storefront to the décor. It is comfortable, and tables topped with double linens. A few tables line the sidewalk, and one brave couple (Spring is still a dream here in NY) was dining outside.
We ordered a nice half-bottle of Amarone to go with our two pasta dishes – a gnocchi with pancetta, porcini and an "aurora" (creamy tomato) sauce, along with a veal ragu and shaved parmigiano over a whole wheat penne.
Bread was promptly delivered with some olive oil for dipping. Wasn't crazy about the bread…
They have a well stocked wine list, with both domestic and international choices, and a tilt toward Italian wines (as it should be).
The pastas were served perfectly al dente (penne) and the gnocchi soft and delicate. I liked the aurora sauce better than the veal ragu, which I found to be a bit dry and under-seasoned. The Zenato Amarone was a perfect accompaniment to the pastas.
Our waiter was spot-on with service and kept up with our water and wine needs.
If the pasta sauce had been better, and the bread more appealing this is easily a four-star spot.
I would like to try it again and order both pasta and entrée over a long evening meal.
Not to be overzealous, this is honestly one of the better restaurants in Westchester. Recently I've been going here for almost all family events. Everything from the wine selection, to the variety of appetizers, salads, pastas, and entrées is fantastic. The presentation of cheeses and garnishing on each dish makes the experience that much better. Most recently I had the Chicken Scaloppini (the first listed), which is awesome. It is prepared with two slices of chicken breast Scaloppini; one with eggplant the other with roasted red pepper.
The wait staff is very professional and often larger groups will have several servers attending to them. While knowledgeable and attentive, I have found the servers to display an heir of arrogance at questions that may come off petty or uninformed. Still, I really have no complaints, and suggest Lusardi's as one of the premier Italian dining establishments in southern Westchester.
