Bodegas and delis can be found everywhere in New York City, but finding a good one is a seriously difficult task. At the very least, M & R has great potential.
Firstly, the prices are cheap and competitive. I can buy a cold half liter bottle of soda or seltzer for $1.50 which is decent when you compare to other places.
They sell cat food for 79 cents a can with the cans you can open without a can opener in case you meet any cats along the way. I met one just outside the store so I got one.
On the other hand, hot drinks are problematic. Hot coffee and tea is entirely self serve. I wanted tea, but the water was WARM, not hot. It doesn't even come out of a direct dispenser like virtually every other deli or bagel store you go to in New York, but it's just a tall glass decanter sitting next to a coffee decanter in one of those coffee heaters, and the water was warm. The people in charge need to be more vigilant.
There appears to be hot food here too, but I've never tried it.
