Supporting small business, even if quality isn't that great.
After a weekend of partying, it was time for the "juice to make me feel better about myself." Chinatown doesn't have as many juice shops, and we ended up walking towards Little Italy for our options. Madhufalla is located right across the street from Juice Press, and we had to decide to support a mom and pop shop over a chain. We felt better about going to Madhufalla, although the juice wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Their super energy juice contains everything to feel good: apples, beets, carrots, ginger, ginseng. Maybe it was the juicer they were using, but something just tasted off about the concoction. The strong medicinal flavor carried by the sweetness of the beets just made it hard to enjoy. The juice was also a lot warmer than I like (they don't put their ingredients on ice).
I love supporting local businesses, but this one I might have to pass on during my next juice craving.
A great place to get a fresh juice or smoothie or other healthy treats without having to deal with ridiculous pricing and annoyingly trendy vibes. No lululemon in sight!
The smoothies are about $6-8 for a generous portion, and freshly made there for you by the kind staff. Some of the menu items feature flavored protein powder which isn't my favorite, but the green smoothie is packed with freshness. And you can always customize your drink, as well!
Never too much of a wait, and there are lots of other yummy things to pick up while you're there, like nuts, bars, and these amazing raw coconut blueberry macarons I got once and scarfed down immediately.
Smoothies and juicing at a great price. They use organic veggies. I always get the large green smoothie for 8$. I like how they offer the option of smoothies rather than just juicing. Fiber is good. Sorry juice press, i love you too. Madhu's is run by a gorgeous nepalese/ tibetan woman. Id definitely drink whatever shes drinking. Good skin = veggies+genetics+maybe lasers/peels/retin a. These are facts.
