this "deli shop" has been built around the steady stream of cabbies in the area who park, worship at the mosque nearby, and need sustenance.
the shop itself is pretty small. to the left of the entrance are stools and an inset table attached to the wall for people to sit and eat. further ahead on the right– is the counter which has a variety of medicines (ibuprofen, cough medicine, etc.), hygiene items, batteries and other rando small merchandise. atop the counter are baskets of diff fruits, pre-prepared homemade eats like pastries stuffed with meats or veggies. further in is the deli display which is full of different Pakistani-styled curries veggie, chicken, other meats like lamb, indian style white rice and indian style brown rice. there's also a coffee maker behind the counter/deli area. further in on the left are refrigerated soft beverages/drinks. the store is pretty bright and free of clutter. there's a bathroom in the back available to customers.
the food is pretty simple. it's all in the deli display. basically the folks working there nuke it in the microwave and send you on your way to either eat in-store or pack it up for you to-go. a basic rice + curry is $5ish. you can get a kebab. they sell chicken and fish sandwiches (breaded patties). like i mentioned before there are short-eats on the counter–the pastry-ish items. they seem homemade and change daily. i've only had takeout of the brown rice and chicken curry. simple. good. hits the spot. good value (aka cheap). when i'm lazy, this is an easy to-go meal. this is not gourmet or fancy south asian food. it's very basic and a little greasy. not too spicy, but a good amount of savor. for five to six bucks–you can get a decent quick meal. when you order a rice-n-curry…they thrown in a tiny lump of "salad of lettuce and tomatoes wrapped in aluminum foil. the hot food here is comparable to other Pakistani/South Asian bodega/delis.
the staff is typically one or two people. one at the register and the other behind the deli counter. they are nice enough. not a lot of chatter in the shop unless you're a taxi driver.
not sure if they accept credit card. seems like an all cash business.
drops mic bc there's no need for an MC here. i out. zzz.
