  1. I've been here on three separate occasions, with about a month, or a couple of weeks in between intervals of my search for the perfect southern comfort food. They sell REALLY great dishes, don't get me wrong. I love their collard greens, baked chicken, fried chicken, all of it! There's just a couple of things. The place is hot. Hot as hell as a matter of fact. And since the owner has been ill, I believe it's her son, or someone who's running the place. Just ONE guy behind the counter, and in the kitchen from what I see. He keeps the door closed! All the heat is trapped inside, and you can barely breathe. It's not like the place is a 5 star restaurant, but it could use some air in there. He seems 23 or so, with an attitude. No social skills at all. He sees customers stand in the restaurant, waiting in line mind you, and asks if we want anything 20 minutes later after he has served everyone before us (When we were the first ones inside!). I really love Maggie's food, and it would have been one star if the food wasn't so spectacular. They serve everything in plastic containers that leak, every time. Ask for extra napkins! And go for the fried chicken!

They moved to a new location and the atmosphere is soooo much better! It's on Teaneck road up the street.

  2. Peach cobbler was very tasty.

Mac and cheese was very tasty and moist
Fried flounder was well fried and seasoned in Cajun seasoning.
Love love love the collard greens

Cornbread very soft not too sweet.

Support this establishment…. It's a mom and pop business.

Friendly service…nice family. Positive energy !

  3. Okay I'm no expert on southern cooking but I just love comfort food and this place delivered.

My colleague recommended it as he has been coming for years. We were able to find some tables to sit at.

Yes, the decor is nothing to go on about – it looks almost like a Chinese take out joint.

However, the staff was super friendly as I decided on my order. Also, the prices are really decent!!

I got the fried chicken (which was juicy and had crispy skin still on it — and it was hot), mac & cheese (pretty good), and collard greens (AMAZING).

My colleague had the BBQ ribs (really good), collard greens (again, AMAZING), and yams (OUT OF THIS WORLD).

My lunch special was about $7. He got the dinner portion for about $10.

Also, they have amazing specials like pigs feet and ox tail, which I have to come back and try.

OH and every meal comes with corn bread, which was delicious. I was so full after my lunch portion. I had one bite of my cornbread and packed it into my purse for a late afternoon snack!
