Very much enjoyed this place!
I came here with my two girlfriends and boyfriend. We loved the old rustic German feel to the place. Our waiter was great – super sweet. I wish I remembered his name to give him a little shout out.
I first ordered a vodka martini. It was very, very strong. I wouldn't say it was my favorite, but at $8.50 you can't beat it! I ordered a beer afterwards and it was nice and cold.
I ordered a burger with cheddar cheese and curly fries. We all ordered burgers cooked differently, so I was happy to see my burger was cooked exactly like I asked for it (med-rare). The burger was pretty delicious. It had a slight bacon flavor which was odd because I didn't order it with bacon (lol), but I liked it. The curly fries were damn good and the honey mustard was awesome!
Overall, good stuff. I will definitely be coming back.
I've been coming here frequently over the last 3 – 4 years. It has really grown in popularity, especially during football season, but maintains the warm hospitality that makes a local tavern special. I continue to frequent Maggie's because the food is good, the staff is friendly and competent, the prices are reasonable, and it is a very comfortable place to meet my friends for a little while. Finally, Maggie's Town Tavern leaves me feeling like a valued guest. I wish more businesses were run this way.
I like this place! Their pizza is really good- thin crust. I've ordered plenty of other things from here and he food is always consistently good! I have no complaints. It also can be a good place to grab a drink with no frills. It's a fun place and low key.
I went here the other night as part of an organized happy hour through an organization that I belong to. They offered a nice array of specials for our group (beer, martinis, appetizers, etc). My friend and I both ordered a Pomegranate martini to start with. It had good flavor but was way too strong. If my friend thought it was strong, then you know it really was. She can usually tolerate stronger drinks better than I can. I switched to a Yuengling after that. That made me happy! And at only $2.49, I'll take that.
We decided to order two appetizers and share them. We ordered the Town Platter, a combination of mozzarella sticks, broccoli bites, fried mushrooms, fried ravioli. Everything was fried on it, which we didn't realize when we ordered it. We would have ordered something else had we known. We also ordered the sweet potato fries. These were very tasty and crispy too. I really enjoyed them.
They have a good sized bar area as well as about 15 different beers on tap. This was my first time at this restaurant, and given the beer selection and happy hour prices, I'm sure it won't be my last.
Nice spot to hang out, eat, drink and catch a game. Kind of too dark on the inside, but it's relaxing.
Had the BBQ Bacon Chedder burger, which wasn't bad, but was hard to taste any of the BBQ flavors.
My girlfriend had the cheeseburger with Taylor ham, which was really good. Pretty awesome idea for a staple good in Jersey.
The bar area was nice, but there wasn't a beer menu so you have to either ask your server to list all the beers or go check for yourself.
Saw a sign that said free pizza at halftime for Jets and Giants games, so that's definitely something worth coming back for!
I didn't think there be much I'd miss moving to Texas since, despite what you might think from movies, it's not just cowboys and open fields (although there are plenty of both). But Maggie's is one place I've yet to find a replacement for.
The owners are genuinely nice people and have been updating the bar area into a really inviting space. The food has improved tremendously- try the sweet potato fries with horseradish on the side (sounds weird but it's pure genius!). The bartenders are all awesome and treated my boyfriend and I like VIPs (who doesn't like that?!). And then of course there was Trivia Night- the perfect reason to skip the gym on a Wednesday night and indulge in a few beers and test your random trivia knowledge.
I enjoyed coming here so much, in fact, that for my bday/moving away party I made all my closest friends and family drive to Maggie's so I could spend one last night at my favorite bar in North Jersey. They graciously rearranged the seating so we could "take over" the back bar and were super attentive to all our needs all night. A perfect send-off!
Fear not, Maggie's, I'll be home for Christmas!!
MTT, I didn't know what to expect. Good ratings on Yelp but it is a local tavern after all.
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised on our experience.
The hostess was very nice in saving a corner table since we had a baby with us.
The waitress was very nice and friendly. Her suggestions were spot on.
The beer menu was interesting but could have used more "seasonal" variety.
The layout was good. Wood everything. The bar area, although the actual bar is decent size and there are a few tables around it, can get rather busy especially when going to the men's room. The ladies luck out with two different locations.
Food options are your typical pub fare (burgers, fried apps, chicken entree's) but they also have pizza and ribs. Didn't sample the pizza but the ribs…holy cow…were great! Highly recommend them. We skipped apps and went right for entrees (ribs can be an app too but we got the entrée size). I decided on the sliced rib eye sandwich which was enjoyable but not great. Greatness belonged to the ribs. The unique sauce (sweet and savory w/scallions drizzled on top) was fantastic. They are known for their sweet potato fries with horseradish sauce on the side…I don't like spf's but the sauce was great even with my curly fries. Yes I said curly fries…who still offers them.
About $55 for 2 entrees, 2 drafts and 1 sangria (seasonal one which the wife liked). Tip of course is extra. If you want to frequent this place please request the card and after 10 visits you get $10 off…
I will be returning…burgers and pizza are on the radar. ENJOY!
I really really loved the atmosphere at this place. Felt warm and cozy.
That really stood out to me. They do have a small parking lot which can easily become full.
I got the taylor ham burger and it was really good. I recommend getting that.
Also had some wine which was average.
The brownie sundae was also average.
Cute place. They also have a cute bar area. Perfect for groups or for date night
