I work up the street and noticed a sign for a smoothie happy hour, and knew I'd have to check it out. Magic Mix offers 1/2 price smoothies from 4-5pm during the week, and 3-5pm on the weekends. In the end, this turns out to be a $6 smoothie, so a good price but doesn't seem 1/2 off. Anyway, I've only tried the Warrior Blend smoothie, as well as the Mayan Warrior. The Warrior Blend was my favorite. Was a nice purple color–not too sweet and even had a homemade protein powder that soothed my afternoon hunger pangs.
Everything here is homemade, vegan, all-natural, etc. The staff is friendly, and it's great that they offer a happy hour. I come here if I have plans right after work and won't have dinner until later. This is a healthy option to keep me satisfied without breaking the bank.
Came here on a lunch break while visiting NYC for business. Really cute spot. Clean, white, fresh interior. I love it!
I tried the Green Eyed Candy (kale, spinach, ginger, pineapple, apple, lemon). Great tasting green juice. $10.99 per bottle, which I find is the going rate for juices nowadays.
I also tried the Iron Man salad. Kale, spinach, avocado, purple cabbage, shiitake bacon, carrots, hemp seeds, Brazil nut parm and house made spirulina dressing. It was tasty and uber healthy. Not going to lie. It was little hard for me to eat the whole thing. Kale and I just don't have a great relationship yet.
My lunch came in a awesome aquamarine reusable bag! Nice advertising!
Service: very friendly!
I'd definitely come back here when I stay downtown next time. I want to try their bowls!
Came with a friend and got the Picture Perfect Date and Mayan Warrior. They're pretty similar aside from the cinnamon flavor in Mayan Warrior. I didn't like how powdery they both tasted. Other than that, this was really filling and they made it fresh right in front of us. They also have salads and other foods which looked good. But overall, pretty pricey.
The store is really clean, bright, and open. There are some bar seats and a table for three – overall not a lot of seating.
*BOGO smoothie on scoutmob!
Attempted several times to try Magic Mix during their 'happy hour' – first time they were out of strawberries, second time they had changed the happy hour from 3-5 to 4-6, and finally this afternoon I was able to sample their juice. I had the warrior blend and really was not feeling it. There was a strange after-kick that was a bit too reminiscent of vomit, and I tried my best to get through the entire smoothie, but succumbed to the trash. Anyway, the selections really don't seem to appeal to me – they all have almond or coconut milk as the base which I wasn't thrilled by. It's a cute shop but doesn't really have all that much to offer – I'd stick to Juice Generation (close by) if you're in the area.
Came here during happy hour with the Scout Mob discount so my smoothie was $3! I had the green one (kale & pineapple – forgot the name sorry!) but they let me replace the OJ for coconut water which was awesome. We also tried the hangover cure which was super tasty. I'd never pay $9.50 for a smoothie here but $6 during happy hour is pretty good!
Great place for juices and smoothies although very very expensive. Try coming during happy hours where some of their drinks are slightly cheaper. Friendly service, and a nice, clean space. I feel like downtown is becoming all poshy with a place like this-not a good or bad thing. Just an observation.
Juice bars have never been hotter. Seems like the new genetic makeup of every block in Manhattan features a frozen yogurt shop, a bank, and a juice bar. While some are more ubiquitous than others (Juice Press, Liquiteria for instance), there's still plenty of room for smaller operations like Magic Mix.
They're not reinventing the wheel by any stretch of the imagination, but they do have a nice selection of bottled smoothies that I gravitate towards. The Mayan Warrior with almond "mylk", banana cacao, dates, cinnamon, and maca is a favorite and it genuinely leaves me full. If you're looking for a meal replacement, it does the trick. They also have a bunch of snacks and larger meals if you need to chew something as opposed to sipping on your lunch or dinner.
Popped in here for the first time in a long time this morning. Got the Green Aphrodite (Spinach, Kale, Cucumber & Apple) and a flu shot (ginger, lemon and cayenne pepper). First the flu shot which does exactly what is supposed to hit you in the throat with a peppery citrus blast. Cures what ails you! The Green Aphrodite was refreshing. People here are super nice. Store is a bit pricey in that the juice was $11 while most other similar quality juice places charge less. Very clean location. They also have raw foods and smoothies. Despite price I would come back here again.
