Its not super mexican but it should be located in a better borough. The place has so much potential but both times i have been, it has been empty. The food is good and the drinks great. THe decor is super nice, for a date, dark and def cool. The lack of people make it hard to visit again.
I dont know what took us so long to try out this place and it deserves an extra star because the food is really good here! Came here on a Friday evening which of course you gotta expect long waits anywhere you go but we waited for about 20 mins by the small bar area. The place has a couple of tables and not really good for more than a party of 4 and still feels snugged. The manager was really pleasant and always was making sure we were okay and be seated shortly even though he told us tables were cleaning up and we be quickly seated but that didn't happen.
We started off with guacamole and sweet plantain stuffed with cheese and meat with a spicy sauce, they both were really great. I also had me a berry lemonade drink which was delicious too.
My bf ordered the spicy chicken with rice and beans and shrimp and I had the shrimp in mexican spices with rice and beans and they were both fantastic! My bf of course eating off my plate which is nothing new, he eats for two always! The rice was wrapped up in a sweet plantain which was so good and had delicious yellow green sweet tomatoes with peppers and onions! They both were not big dishes but they were good enough portions especially for me since I can tend to eat like a bird.
I really had a good meal and of course I know my bf did if he licked up the plate and I would def. love to come back here, I wanted to have dessert but I was running late for work and I hated the fact that I couldn't enjoy there fresh warm churros WAHHHH but the prices are good, they offer specials and also have a tequila bar. They offer brunch too. Nice couples date!
Very good Mexican food. Nice place for a classy, relaxed dinner. I've only been here once, but I definitely recommend it if you're in the area.
I absolutely love this place. The food is delicious here. All though I wish they had a bigger menu, but it is really amazing. I usually order the steak fajita which is beautifully plated and tastes just as good as it looks. I've orders the paella before and it's just as good. It's so presentable and it has that romantic date night feel to it. The drinks are so good too. You def. need to try the strawberry lemonade which is perfecto!
This place is adorable. They want to be authentic Mexican and I feel are the only spot on the island that mostly is successful at it. Their menu is a bit eclectic, but anything you order will be good. The guacamole is flavorful and made on the spot. The chicken quesadillas are a bit spicy and made with pulled chicken. They are made from one folded tortilla. They come with salsa, guacamole and sour cream. The fish tacos are okay. The fish was fresh, but they could use some more greens and other items inside the taco. I've also tried tequila and lime shrimp. So far this is my favorite main course.
Nice friendly out of the way place I found when exploring the small Staten Island branch of the MTA above ground subway.
It's a few block walk from the subway stop, but there are several restaurants in the area.
They had a special on very good margarita's ($5) when I came here on this Sunday afternoon.
The service was very good.
They have some backyard patio style outdoor seating space in the back.
Inside is a little more cozy and comfortable. I enjoyed the large shredded chicken burrito, which I ended up bringing half home.
We've been here a number of times. The jalapeño and passion fruit margaritas are delicious.
The stuffed sweet plantains are awesome.
I was a little surprised the fish tacos were $23.95
The butternut squash appetizer was also fantastic. I feel like their non Mexican food is better than the traditional burritos and stuff.
I loved this little Mexican spot! If I can walk into a restaurant and be taken away by the decor, music and food Im sold. For one thing the service here was fantastic. Our waiter Adel was on the money with everything and made our experience very pleasant. The food here is fresh and very delicious. They have backyard seating which is always a plus for us New Yorkers but even if you hang inside the vibe is very relaxed.
I ordered the steak and shrimp dish. The steak was perfect and the shrimp was tasty as well. The rice was wrapped in a platano which is something that I have never seen before and thought was very cool. I really did enjoy every bite. I also tried the fish tacos which were delicious. The fish was lite and well battered. The side sauce was amazing too. For drinks I had the mojito which was splendid. To be honest although this is Mexican cuisine I thought it favored Puerto Rican style cooking to me. Very reminiscent of a Sofrito and/or Sazon when they were in their prime. Anyway call it what you'd like but this place is good! I was really impressed and this place has definitely won me over. When I am back on the other side of the bridge I will definitely be returning!
