  1. When you think of the ideal neighborhood bakery, you are thinking of the Malverne Pastry Shop.  This small bakery turns out cakes, cookies, and pastries on a daily basis.  On Christmas Eve and other holidays, we've spent up to 2 hours waiting in line for these cakes… The line wraps out the door and down the block!

That being said, everything is extremely fresh, so if you're getting something for a big holiday (like a cake or a pie; pastries have a limited shelf life), you can easily get it a day or two beforehand and it will still be as good as the first day.  Everyone working in the store has a friendly disposition and will accommodate your special orders and requests.

The buns and muffins are great, from their apple turnovers to raisin crumb buns to mocha muffins.  The muffins are on the sweet side, so they are more of a pastry than a breakfast.

Cookies are solidly good–exactly what you would expect from a bakery.

The pies are delicious.  The key lime pie during the summer is extremely fresh.  The apple pie is a deep-dish decadence with caramel and walnuts.  During the holidays, the bourbon pecan pie is a favorite; you can get drunk off its deliciousness.

In terms of cakes, you can't go wrong there either.  We've had lemon coconut, seven-layer cake, chocolate cakes–everything is fresh and flavorful.  The fruit tart is very delicious but decadent, so make sure that you have enough people to eat it before it goes bad.

You really can't go wrong here.

  2. My family and I have been going to Malverne Bakery for as long as I can remember. Everything is delicious in this shop. Their pastries are full of flavor and nicely decadent. My personal favorites include the following

    – Seven Layer Cake
    – Wild Blueberry Pie
    – Crumb Buns
    – Austrian Linzer Tart
    – Their custard birthday cakes with whipped cream frosting
But their greatest asset are their rainbow cookies. Made with rum(so I have heard) these cookies are packed full of fruit flavor, not just sugary with food coloring like so many others do.

The location has great service, everyone is friendly and helpful in explaining what everything is. This location is cash only or by check. If you try going there during the holidays, expect at least an hour wait to get in.

  3. I saw old reviews and was looking forward to trying their caramel walnut apple pie  but I take it they no longer make that anymore.  Even then, I took home an apple crumb pie and greatly enjoyed it, as did my family and friends.

I've been told from relatives that I have to go back and have a taste of their cakes, and I most certainly shall.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming and I look forward to returning.

  4. My favorite bakery on Long Island Is located in Malverne!  The Malverne Pastry Shop uses the finest, freshest ingredients. My family loves their rye bread, cinnamon raisin bread and rolls. We also rave over their black and white cookies and cupcakes.  If you want to sample the deliciousness, order an assortment of pastries. All are delicious!
Most often requested: Napoleon, mini cannoli, rainbow cookie, carrot cake and fruit tart.

The cakes, pies and Tortes are each uniquely different and delicious. The crusts are light, buttery and perfectly shaped.  So many of the cakes are works of art!

For every special occasion, we order from here.  We are spoiled now!

    CASH ONLY!!!

  5. Holy crow!  A friend brought us a cake from this bakery for Easter.  The "Red & Black" cake was to die for!  Raspberry chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache and raspberry coulis…so fresh, so decadent yet still reasonably light.  I have found the Promised Land and it is the Malverne Pastry Shop!
