  1. Mamagyro is one of the only places I've found that put fries in their gyros (a recipe similar to a dürüm). However, the portions are small and expensive, and while they might have a large menu, I find the gyros to be greasy and not that appetizing. I took a group of friends here once and everyone felt a little ill after eating only one gyro! I recommend skipping this place and eating at a food card somewhere nearby.

  2. Best place to go to in the UES! Since everything is so expensive and high end. This place is perfect for quality cheap food! It is not a sit down restaurant but they do have seating. If you're on a lunch break this will usually take about 30 to eat and wait on your food.

My usual is the Lamb with Brown Rice with Spicy Tzikiti sauce! So good! Definitely try the homemade banana pudding! It makes a great breakfast or mid snack in the day.

When I used to work in the UES I literally went here about three days a week. It's eating healthy while not feeling bloated or fat afterwards.

  3. Delicious! This is a takeout staple for me. The food is extremely fresh and super flavorful. I love the lamb/beef gyro meat. The side salads are amazing. You can't go wrong here. You can feed two people with extremely fresh Mediterranean fare for under $20. It's always good! I have been here more times than I can count on my hand and it never disappoints. I've even had them cater my office and it was extremely good! Fresh and healthy options. Highly recommend for quick service but great flavor and prices.

  4. This used to be my go to for a scooby snack when on the UES. What went wrong ?

Ordered the mama gyro which used to be oh so good but now is oh so bad. Dry meat prob carved off and left for hours and with stale Pitta bread.

    Why why why. …

  5. Food was overly salty and the meat tasted dried out and old when I went in for lunch on the weekend. Maybe it was just an off day? Portions are okay. Plates are around $11. They didn't give proper change, which is a pet peeve of mine. If you're going to "round," you're supposed to do it in favor of the customer. We're the ones who should decide whether you get to keep the change or not! Didn't want to say anything (it was hard enough to get the cashier's attention in the first place) but will make a note to not come back.

  6. Mamagyro has good on-the-go food, reasonably priced, especially for the neighborhood. I'm always down with their lamb gyro. Sometimes you'll have a little wait with the lunchtime rush, but just order ahead. Counter space with a couple seats if you want to chow down really quickly.

  7. Ordered deliver from here on a couple occasions and picked up a few times. Perfect for a late night craving after a drunken outing of revelry. They're generous both with the sauces and asking prices, and the food always seems to hit the spot.

Don't expect anything mind-blowing, but it's perfect for when you've already made peace with what you're about to eat.

  8. Mamagyro food and service is good, but they really could use a "combo" menu. A gyro by itself probably won't fill up most people. If you opt for a side of hummus, I'd suggest the spicy one. Personally, I feel the hummus is a little too "blended," but the flavor of it is a perfect, standard hummus, There's not anything so special about mamagyro that it's a standout over other places, but it's still somewhere I'd visit again. I guess to sum it up I'd say- come here if your main concern is having exactly the type of food you'd expect.
