“The young lady at the register was very helpful and in short order I had chosen jerk chicken, jerk pork and oxtail, all with rice n peas.”
“Only wish they delivered on a more regular schedule like others in the area.”

I came here around lunch time craving some jerk chicken. I walk in and the place was pretty dead. There was a woman ahead of me with a huge take out order, so I had to wait a good five minutes or so before anyone greeted me.
After seeing the Oxtails I immediately changed my mind about the jerk chicken lol. Got a medium order of oxtail, rice n peas, cabbage and plantains. Everything was delicious. The rice was slightly on the dry side but the gravy made up for it. Plantains were perfect, sweet and not too greasy. The Oxtails could use some heat but they did taste good as is.
This is a very casual restaurant. The AC was not on when I walked in but it was pretty well ventilated.
I'll be back!
Is the food here good? Yes. The service however is going to end up cutting the life span of this restaurant short, it has for me and I'm sure I'm not the first customer to get disrespectful service and I won't be the last.
Let me say, this review isn't based on just one experience but the last visit here was enough to make me cut this place off completely! My boyfriend asked if they had any fried chicken and the response from the girl behind the counter was "do you see any?" I don't know about you but I don't visit restaurants to get insulted or spoken to like I'm being done a favor. Last time I checked I'm paying for your services and that includes customer service.
The food is good but not good enough to tolerate such nonsense! I hope the owner realizes that his employees are costing him business and word of mouth can make or break a restaurant.
My husband and I decided to make the trek up to New Rochelle to check out Mangoville since we'd purchased a Groupon. We were excited to have some good Jamaican food but as the night went on the excitement faded. When we arrived it was pretty empty, just a couple of people at the bar, a couple seated at a table, and an event planner decorating a large table for what we assumed was going to be a party later on in the night.
With so few people in the restaurant at the moment, we definitely did not expect to have to wait as long as we did for food. We ordered the fritters for an appetizer, I ordered the burger and he ordered the ackee & saltfish with a side of mac & cheese. After about 15 minutes, our fritters still hadn't arrived, and the waitress came back to tell me they had no beef to make burgers, so I had to choose something else. This was alarming because I'd assumed by food was in the middle of being prepared by that point. I ordered the curry goat with white rice instead. 20 more minutes go by and my husband calls the waitress over to ask about our appetizer, which she said was taking a while but would be out soon. She also then informed us that his mac & cheese side was unavailable and asked if he'd choose something else. At this point we're getting pretty upset, mainly because we were hungry and an appetizer shouldn't take as long as ours was taking. It also baffled us that we were hearing about missing items so long after we'd ordered them.
Another 10 minutes goes by and finally, we see our waitress approaching… not with our appetizer but with our main items. She said that our fitters were taking longer than expected. At this point we decided to cancel the fritters because the only reason we ordered them was to have something to eat while the rest of our food was being prepared.
In terms of quality, the food was good, this definitely cannot be disputed. Our waitress was very nice and it wasn't her fault that things were such a mess in the kitchen. But the long wait for food put a damper on the evening, and if it weren't for the food, my rating would have been lower. If the number of people coming in and out were any indication, you're probably better off ordering your food to go.
