  1. Marathon sushi is a mostly Japanese partially Korean corner shop. They mostly sell sushi (obviously) but also have teriyaki boxes as well as bulgogi dishes and etc..

The shop itself is small and can easily get loud. The service however is immediate (as even at full capacity one waiter is enough). The food doesn't take long either.

The teriyaki dinners and bulgogi are very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity you receive. Each coming with a large portion on a hot plate as well as soup, salad and rice.

The sushi here is pretty good as far as small time sushi parlors go and the prices like everywhere else are steep (but very comparable to local price for sushi).

The menu options are plenty. The delivery isn't worth it as they take a very long time. Recommended to come in and eat or pick up the sushi.

  2. Run, don't walk, the 26 miles to get here.  (see what I did … smh … I need help)

No, but seriously.  Their fish is fresh and everything on the menu is reasonably priced.  Especially, their lunch specials.

My favorite item is their hwedupbap.  You dunno hwedupbap, you say.  Well, it is korean chirashi bibimbap with spicy gochujang sauce.  I believe the raw fish is either rockfish or whitefish.  When you mix up the bowl, a la bibimbap, the end result is a glorious mixture of lettuce, vegetables, raw fish, rice and spicy sauce.  (spicy cho-gochujang sauce is the saus baws)

You get a cup of miso soup to pair with your sushi/sashimi/hwedupbap meal.  All in all, not a bad place to get some raw fish and rice.

One star reduced for the small interior space and the lack of convenient parking.  Anderson Ave can get ridiculous sometimes.

  3. I came here with my girlfriend a few weeks because we really wanted to grab some sushi and we stumbled upon this place.  It's a nice little restaurant on Anderson and we would come back again.  The waitress was extremely nice and  was very quick and attentive.  We ordered the Gyoza as an appetizer and shared the medium sized sushi platter that came with 12 piece of sashimi and a few different rolls as well.  Everything was clean and pretty fresh but I would want to come back and try some of their specialty rolls in the future.  Would recommend if you are in the area.

  4. What I love about this place is that it's a mom and pop restaurant.  Small and warm.  The food was great — sushi and food was fresh and the service was timely and kind.

The only negative was that it smelled like nail polish remover in the restaurant.  Odd, I know!  Until I realized that there is a nail salon literally right next door to them.  After a while, the smell becomes non-existent and the food and service stands atop.

I ordered the salmon teriyaki bento box for about $20 and it was well worth it!  It was packed with all sorts of goodness!  What came in addition to the salmon was rice, noodles, tempura (shrimp & sweet potato), california rolls, and sashimi.  Delicious!  I would definitely go back!

  5. We came here for lunch and ordered two orders of sashimi and sushi combo which came with soup and salad.  The portions are relatively small and we left feeling hungry.  I am not the one to complain about feeling hungry after eating at a Japanese place – generally I feel satisfied and happy.  The sashimi were a hit or miss – some pieces are very fresh and others very fishy. I am not sure if we came on an off day but we were very disappointed.

  6. Pretty good neighborhood sushi place.  We were the only customers on a Sunday afternoon, which was surprising given the Yelp reviews.  The sushi was fresh and the prices were fair.  Had a quick meal here, so can't really comment on anything else on the menu.  The place had a very simple, clean decor with about 5 tables.  Seems like most people will order take-out from this place.  Great place to check out if you're in the area and in the mood for some sushi.

  7. I've ordered delivery a few more times and have now eaten in the restaurant. The only reason cannot give 5 stars is that there is no restroom inside the restaurant. When I asked to use it I was told I can use the nail salon next store. So hence, dining isn't optimal here especially during the winter.

  8. Ehhhh… A lot of hype I think. Overall the rolls were good.. But nothing crazy out of this world.

First let me tell you about the venue. It has 5 tables all 2 sweaters and then 3 seats for the sushi bar. Very quaint and friendly service.
We were the only 2 in the restaurant at 7pm on a Wednesday for dinner. It took almost AN HOUR to get our food. Ummmmm… How do they handle it when this place is packed ? I could not even imagine how slow the service would be. There was about 3 pick up orders that came in while we were waiting there. There is only 1 sushi man. And one helper who just stands there waiting for the sushi guy to be finished to packed the sushi. — I was starving and not having it.

    Food:
    – gyoza: fried . I didn't eat this but my friend said it was extra crispy and pretty good. But she's very easy to please… I just didn't want anything fried (sorry)

    – sunset roll: the best roll hands down. The mango really has the perfect touch — my friend and I both agreed it was easily the best one

    – marathon: since sunset and marathon were the most recommended on their yelp page. It was okay

    – dragon roll: eel is eel. They do put a lot of avocado on all their rolls that are topped with avocado which I appreciate cause most places skimp out.

    – rock&roll: was okay..

    – sashimi regular: thinnest pcs of sashimi I've seen. But they were good. Nothing to be raving about.

    Total price: $76

    Side notes:
    – they use very little rice
    – lots of avo
    – smaller than normal size rolls. Thinner I should say
    – thinly sliced sashimi
    – free tea& refills
    – didn't charge us for extra spicy mayo on the side

Mmmmmm I wasn't that impressed. I feel like
It's overpriced for their portions. Definitely not memorable.
