  1. Been to MbM a few times, but this is for my most recent visit via MealPass.

I ordered the cold Caprese sandwich, which is well seasoned, has a good amount of mozzarella, and tomato on a crunchy and powdery sourdough bread. While it wasn't specified, I was sort of hoping they'd throw in a bag of chips or a cookie along with the sandwich as it's a bit small for a meal.

I did find myself getting hungry again by 4pm or so, but in the past when I had one of their (very good) cookies with a sandwich it was a more fulfilling lunch.

It's a bit harder than most places to pick up the meal pass since they have such a small space at Pennsy, but don't hesitate to nudge your way to the front to avoid waiting in line for your pre-made MealPass order!

  2. Came by The Pennsy after work to pick up a quick bite for my train ride back to Jersey! I looked up the food options online prior to coming so I was set on trying Mario By Mary primarily because it's associated with Mario Batali and because I was in dire need of prosciutto…

Well, I was in for a wave of disappointment because they ended up not having the prosciutto and mozarella panino I was craving. I wasn't going to be picky b*tch and walk away so I ended up ordering the Mario Cubano! I didn't buy a water, a bag of chips nor a cookie and my panino (ALONE) cost me $12. Now, I wouldn't mind if the panino was huge. The panini at Mario by Mary are pretty tiny! Are they packed with flavor? The Mario Cubano sure is. Am I sad that I spent $12 for it? Hell yea!!!! Would I say it's not worth the money at all? Of course I wouldn't because I'm enjoying my mini-meal as I type this!

In terms of service, I wasn't a big fan of the cashier. No eye contact whatsoever, flat/uninterested tone and overall unwelcoming. I expect that from a McDonald's or Taco Bell cashier. Not from here.

Anywhoooo, I'll definitely be back at The Pennsy and I will probably order again from MbM but I just wish it was a little cheaper!

  3. Situated in the Pennsy you find this food stall associated with Mario Batali. Nice quick service and fresh ingredients. They have great combo deals with soup and sammie. The combo also came with a nicely grilled fresh veggie salad. My go to was the great grilled cheese that has  Fontina, Gruyere with Otto Black Truffle Honey. Grilled perfectly and all the honey and cheeses mixed together well. The soup on hand today was the squash and parsnip soup. Hot and full of flavor. Great for a cold day. Soups vary daily. Definitely a great place for a bite to eat and a good place for the corporate crowd and commuters for lunch as it's right by MSG and Penn Station.
