Martha’s Country Bakery

“I did not like the peanut butter or red velvet which is probably why I have not tried their red velvet slice.”

“Regardless, I will definitely be coming here more often to try more things and fulfill my sweet tooth!!”

“This Martha's location is bigger than the one in Astoria and like the Astoria location it was recently renovated.”

  1. Anyone who says I'm going to Martha's just melts in their seat hearing the word "Martha's"

Then there is ones like me who are late coming here. The first time (I've been here three times now) I was in ahhhh over what to choose! We got a seat in a Sunday after traveling in from Jersey! We had coffee and I had shared the Oreo cheese cake! omg.., that's it, that's all I need to say!

The cheese cake crust, how dense and flavorful the inside, the topping was of so perfect texture wise! The overall flavors were over bearing and great for a "I need a dessert right now" kick!

My friends husband got the chocolate cake which is his favorite and he gets it every time. I didn't have any but then again the way he was eating it I don't know if I would've gotten a bite!

The second time I came I saw the line and screamed! It was late and we ended up settle for drinks instead which doesn't compare!

The last time was sadly enough the last time for possibly forever! It was the day before I moved back to Seattle! I finally got the Napoleon berries/whip cream/layered flaky goodness!

The bottom wasn't Soggy at all. The berries were perfectly cut to proportion! The whip cream was a little thicker than normal but was with a hint of sugar to make it just right! This was a perfect great to end my last day in NYC..

  2. Soooo, we know that I struggle with a sweet tooth. Hence, why my step goals surpass the 10K they say its a healthy amount. I will be adding 7K every time I come here and have the banana nutella crème brulee.

I would've never thought to put banana or nutella on top of crème brulee, but I am so happy they did! I was in sweet heaven and didn't want to come down. I couldn't finish it so I took the rest to go. Sadly, I left it at my friend's house and they gladly ate it the next day… horrible friend.

I shall be back and will be adding more to my step intake to partake in this deliciouness!

  3. Dessert, Dessert, Dessert. A flamboyant, decadent bakery of sugary delights. Have never left without happiness and everyone finding something really sweet and horrible for the waistline.

This is one of the Martha locations, and probably the smallest of the three, but it packs the crowd. Usually always come to this Martha's Bakery because Bayside is a little out of my way, and the service is so much better. The wait can be a bit long especially in the evenings and weekends but worth it.

You can't really go wrong with their desserts but red velvet cheesecake, tres leches, fruit tarts and tiramisu are the recommended ones.

  4. After my previous review the wonderful people at Martha's sent me a gift card which was very generous of them. Because of that customer service I will continue to return to Martha's. And I have returned since then.

    Pros:
-variety of desserts – there are so many! Almost anything you can imagine
    -location
-fruit tart is amazing, so is the chocolate mousse cake

    Cons:
    -sometimes long lines/crowded
    -can be a bit pricey

  5. As I'm walking to my car yesterday to put money in the meter I smell something amazing. I look to the right and this amazing smell is coming from Martha's. So after brunch with my friends, I went to Martha with one of them and we got some deserts to go. I got two cupcakes (Oreo and a chocolate with cherry filling) and she got two tarts. I shared my cupcakes with my fiancé. The presentation of the cupcakes was really good I couldn't wait to have them. Unfortunately, the taste did not match up to how the cupcakes looked. They were just okay. The cherry filling and Oreo topping was the only parts I liked about the cupcakes. If I'm in the area again I will try a different type of desert.

  6. There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said about their famous Very Berry Napoleon. Light, flaky pastry sheets filled with a cream custard and fresh berries. They have endless options of breads, cookies and pastries but the Napoleon is guaranteed to become your favorite.

  7. Good place to get desserts to go. I always find it too crowded to sit there long enough to have a conversation with anyone. Desserts are good, not fantastic, but good enough. I like their tres leches cake and their red velvet cheesecake.

  8. Skip the coffee or whatever drinks and go right to their dessert!

Martha's Country Bakery has this insane display case of baked good of everything one can imagine. What to order can really be an issue but my Yelp Forest Hill BFF ( we do have a badge to prove) highly recommend their Very Berry Neapolitan. I was not disappointed as the custard cream was so light and rich and loaded with various fresh berries! Great portion to share or enjoying that alone.

Brewed Coffee tasted old and muddy. Might as well order the slice to go and make my own coffee.

Service though friendly but was painfully slow. The waitress even forgot the slice of cake we ordered until I reminded her and even getting the bill took so much effort. The cafe was not even that busy….
