  1. Martino's is a local gem, a little home in the wall that, 9 times out of 10, has excellent pizza and pasta.  Short on ambiance, but long on food quality, my family have been coming to Martino's since we moved to the area back in 1993.  My favorites are their white slice, calzone, or penne a la mama.  The prices are average for a pizza joint.  And the pasta specials during the week are a good deal, coming with salad and bread even if it's takeout.

  2. Pasta Night deal any Pasta $12 w/ Salad and Bread Monday and tuesday

I got a Penne alla Vodka and a rice ball. Pasta was very good, but for the price I was expecting more. They try to justify it by giving you a large salad, garlic bread loaf and 2 garlic knots. My takeout order took about 10min.

PENNE ALLA VODKA $12 (Pasta Night Price)
Simple pink sauce with cream and pancetta pieces
    -The pasta was cooked well
-The sauce was EXTREMELY RICH, there is a lot of heavy cream in this. It was very creamy and filling, and there was nice balance between the cream and tomato
-The pancetta mini strips gave the pasta a good salty kick but I found it a little chewy
-I would have liked some peas

    Rice Ball $3
-Perfect crisp exterior housing warm creamy rice, cheese and meat sauce oozed out from the center, it was dynamite delicious

Interior was pretty bad. Sticky tables and sticky menus. Looks like the set of a restaurant from The Godfather but that grimy back section only the bad people went. This place definitely needs to be renovated. They also seem to have a loyal following of thoroughbred Italian baby boomers that wreak of cigarette smoke and Vicks.

I would come back for the food, but only take out. They have a seafood night too on other days.

Recommended: Penne alla Vodka, Rice Ball

  3. My fiance is from Elmont so he used to frequent this place back in the day. Since moving to West Hempstead, we received the "dinner specials" in the local paper.  Martinos was one of them. $8.99 for pasta specials (over 20 choices) and $12.95 for seafood specials.  The waitress was super nice and the food was yummy. We will be back to try more!!!
