  1. I ordered an iced matcha tea and found it rather disappointing for the price. I love tea, especially green tea. The iced matcha was nothing special, but it was cold and refreshing. I should have gotten one of their baked goods or a matcha latte.

  2. A place solely dedicated to matcha? Yes, please!

I got the iced Matcha Latte with almond milk, which was delicious and so refreshing on a 90 degree day – it wasn't as sweetened as I would've liked though.

Matcha donut hole was also very yummy, but honestly, I didn't really taste the matcha as much here.

Overpriced is an understatement. 2 matcha lattes + 2 donut holes = about 14 bucks.

  3. If you are trying to drink less coffee then matcha is your answer. It is healthier for you and provides focus as well as alertness. You can have your choice of matcha latte, cappuccino, etc and your choice of milk. I like how many varieties they have, from hemp to soy and almond. They have some pastries too, some even have matcha in them.

    I love matchabar!
This is their second location and I first went to the one in Williamsburg, which is a bit bigger. Nonetheless, this one has a few tables to sit at and nice big windows. They also have a fridge with their own brand of iced matcha in bottles and some other drinks. You can even buy their matcha powder in a cute tin with their logo on it so you can make it at home.
Don't forget to ask for the punch card if you come often, buy enough drinks and you get one of your choice free!

  4. When MatchaBar first opened its cute little shop in Chelsea, I didn't realize it also has a full online business where they sell its bottled products and matcha. I got the iced white pear match, which is unsweetened. My pet peeve is when people drown tea with sugar or milk (e.g. matcha latte) because then you are no longer drinking matcha, but sugared water or milk.

The small drink was a bit on the expensive side, but high quality matcha is expensive so just be prepared to splurge 🙂 The white pear matcha, while unsweetened, still had a slight sweet after taste. It's a great refreshing and healthy drink on a warm summer days, and perfect for walking around the neighborhood/highline.

  5. Big fan of MatchaBar! Really glad that they opened up in Manhattan. The space has a great vibe – I'm obsessed with the wall paper. Stopped by at around 9 on a weekday and there were a ton of people in and out, but the energy was so upbeat! They have a ton of new unique flavors like iced watermelon basil matcha that is super refreshing and gave me the perfect boost of energy to start my morning.

All of the pastries seemed to have matcha incorporated in some way, which is awesome. The brownies looked amazing but it was a little too early for that!

The matcha ice cream pops are amazing! I was given a sample and loved it. Banana, matcha and white chocolate shavings on top. Served in a cute cup with a lid that catches the shavings and drips from the icecream!

Would definitely come back here, both to sit and have a light snack or to get some matcha to go! Loved everything I tried.

  6. I came to this location to get a matcha latte and get some work done. Super super friendly service.

Most recently tried one of the popsicles created by Matcha Bar x byChloe. It was a banana popsicle with matcha flavored (white chocolate) coating dipped in coconut. It was amazing!

  7. As someone who likes green tea everything, I knew that going to MatchaBar was a must back in the spring, and I plan to go back again soon.

The interior has an earthy feel, with green walls (of course) and different seating types. My friend and I chose to sit in the cozy nook at the back corner of the space, where there were throw pillows, closest to the open windows that overlooked the sidewalk.

Since this was my first time at MatchaBar, I got an iced matcha latte with soymilk. It tasted less sweet and more sharp than I expected, but I liked it and thought the creaminess of the soy milk balanced out that zingy taste.

By looking at the menu, I could tell MatchaBar likes offering different types of drinks (from the watermelon-basil drink to an earl grey latte, all with matcha of course). When I re-visit, I plan to try some of those drinks.

The only drawback to this place was that there was no bathroom, and unfortunately it took awhile to find one around the area. If the staff workers recommended restaurants or nearby coffeeshops where I could find a restroom easily (other than at Starbucks, where the bathroom lines can be long), that would be awesome. I plan to pay another visit to MatchaBar sometime!

  8. I have been to their Brooklyn location about a year ago when that was their only store, and I can still remember how tasty their matcha pastries were. So after I discovered that they opened up this Manhattan location, I was more than happy and could not wait to try it out.

Dropped by after a short run and ordered their summer specialty drink white pear matcha. So refreshing and completely cured my tiredness and sweating! There was no sugar added so not too much to concern about cal either. Such a nice bar for a small rest during summer times!

Oh yay! No need to visit Brooklyn any more!
