After driving around Jackson Heights for 20 minutes looking for a parking spot we felt defeated and vowed to never drive to this neighborhood again and instead take the subway. Why we didnt do that in the first place…who freakin knows.
soooooo….we decided to go to the weird looking random indian restaurant in our own neighborhood since we hadnt tried it yet. Great Idea!
The food was soooo good. This stuff is on par with some of the best indian food ive ever eaten. I am vegetarian so dont quote me on the meat items. The Aloo Gobi (spelled differently there) was delicious. Jus the right spice level. My fiance had some peas and mushroom dish that was also very good. The Nan is huge. If you order one it would be enough for 2 people. The samosas were also on par with the best ive ever had. Ive eaten at quite a few Indian restaurants in my day so take that as you will.
If youre in the area or just Queens in general or if you want to venture into a new area to try something tasty definitely try this place out.
They also have a catering hall that they state holds up to 650 people which is an insane amount of people if you ask me. I dont know where they hide that at.
Try it out! I feel lucky to live in walking distance of this great place!
I ordered delivery from here and I have to say, the reviews for the food don't do it justice – however, I did not go to the restaurant itself so I cannot comment on the service. At first, after I ordered from grubhub, I went on Yelp to check out some reviews while waiting. I started to regret my decision after seeing that it said "Open 11am-3pm" CLOSED NOW on the hours. I immediately contacted grubhub who assured me that my delivery was on the way. Lo-and-behold, within 45min of ordering, my food arrived. My boyfriend even said "ALREADY? I thought you just ordered?"… The delivery guy was nice – not too much talking and since tip was already paid on the card, it was a quick transaction and he did not complain about how far my house was (It is probably on the outskirts of where the restaurant is as I'm actually in Forest Hills – a good 10-15min bicycle ride from the restaurant)
On to the review of the food…
We ordered chicken curry, chicken tikki masala, samosas and naan. The naan was not bad and also not oily but felt like it was missing some flavor… but with the curry, it was delicious. The chicken curry was VERY flavorful and wasn't too overpowering. My boyfriend is picky when it comes to curry and he really liked this one. i could have just shared the chicken curry with my bf since the portion is pretty good and came with a big plate of rice. The tikki masala was good but felt like there was too much yogurt in it but all in all, pretty good. I ate part of the samosas but was too full already so we're saving that for later. For the price and portion, I think it was a very good deal.
I will definitely order from here again!
Really good Indian food!!
