  1. I've been here twice on my way to upstate ny and it's a really great place to stop for breakfast.

They have typical diner fare as well as healthy and vegan options (Tofu scrambles, vegan pancakes/French toast, gluten free options, real maple syrup etc.)

They service was excellent both times I was here and the food comes out fast.

I will defiantly be back when I take my next road trip

  2. Breakfast food is my favorite food.  And after a wild night out, I stumbled into Maywood Pancake House for some hangover curing.

Omelette, home fries, and a side of bacon.  Everything was delicious with speedy service.

I still have to say that I prefer Chit Chat in Hackensack but this is a close second!

  3. In full disosure, I went to a pancake house and didn't order pancakes, so take this review with a grain of salt.

The French Toast was good and the strawberries and banana were fresh, but the pecans tasted stale, and it wasn't because I poured fresh maple syrup over them, which they charge $2 extra for. Side note: fresh maple syrup should just be what's served in a pancake house. Sorry, Aunt Jemima.

I was also unimpressed by the fact that they asked whether I wanted fresh or Tropicana OJ and then proceeded to pour the "fresh" OJ from a container in the fridge, where it had been sitting for who knows how long. It was good but I like my fresh squeeze OJ made to order, hence why it would be called "fresh squeeze."

Overall, the place was packed on a Sunday afternoon so clearly they're not hurting for business. Maybe next time I'll just stick to what's in the business name and go with the pancakes.

  4. Came to the Pancake house and didn't get pancakes!! Whomp, whomp…. Thankfully if you are like me, and are not in the mood for pancakes, there are a ton of other things to choose from. Just make sure to get there early enough to not be HANGRY (hungry/angry) because there is always a wait. For a Sunday at 10 am we waited 20 minutes, which wasn't terrible, especially considering the place isn't that big inside.

I decided to get the Rodeo Skillet as my server recommended it best. It was a bed of potatoes, chorizo, peppers, onions, jalapenos topped with two eggs any style and toast. I was super bummed when it came to the table in a regular plate and not an actual skillet. I guess a small price to pay, but I want my cast iron skillet! Ok, rant over.

As for flavor, the meal was good, not great. It was a TON of jalapenos, so much more spice than I would've liked. The portion was huge and I was able to have another full breakfast from my original plate.

Our server Rob was very friendly and kept checking up on us. Our cups were always filled with  warm coffee and we were not rushed out of our table despite the long wait outside. Overall, it is a solid breakfast place.

  5. This place deserves 10 stars! I've decided it's my new favorite local diner 🙂 We came in on a Saturday afternoon and surprisingly there wasn't a wait for 3 people. We were greeted by the host who is so friendly (just like the rest of the staff!!)

Maywood pancake house is a small diner but it has so much character and a GREAT menu! Most New Jersey diners have such large menus it can be overwhelming at times lol but Maywood pancake house does it perfectly. They even have lots of vegan options which is a plus.

I decided on the Hazelnut waffle which was on the special board. I added toasted coconut shavings on top and OMG IT WAS TO DIE FOR. Highly recommended! The coffee is DELICIOUS and I'm not normally a coffee drinker, I just wanted something yummy to drink with my waffle 🙂 My boyfriend got an Irish Benedict which is poached eggs with homemade corn beef hash on an English muffin with hollandaise sauce. He enjoyed it but wasn't too fond on the home fries, next time we will order them well done! His mom got the Daddy-O combo which is French Toast, two eggs any style, bacon, sausage & homefries for $11.99.

Overall this is a great spot for breakfast or lunch. Very clean diner, friendly staff and great food. I highly recommend!!!!

  6. I'm really torn about 3 or 4 stars on this one because in all actuality the quality of the food isn't outstanding however, I give them major kudos for accommodating a lot of diet restrictions and preferences. Vegan, gluten-free and whole wheat, for those who of you like me who view white carbs as the enemy. I had been to the sister restaurant in Rutherford and didn't have the BEST experience, but decided to give it another try.

My boyfriend and I got really lucky because we walked in when there just so happened to be only a 10 minute wait. Pretty sure it quickly escalated to 30-45 within 15 minutes of sitting down so if you're coming on the weekends between 10am-1pm, be prepared to wait. I must say though, it goes pretty quick. I went for a Daddy-O special, with whole-wheat french toast, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage (usually comes with 2 breakfast meats but I only wanted 1) and home fries. Honestly, way too much food for one person to eat for a first meal. I only ate 1 1/2 slices of the french toast, with real vermont maple syrup (+1.99 extra but is sufficient for 2-3 people) all the eggs and the sausage. Barely touched the potatoes, because carbs, but same as the other location-deliciously seasoned. In terms of flavor, its nothing impressive but keeps you full without making you feel lethargic and like you're about to explode, depending on how much you eat of course. My boyfriend got a similar Daddy-O but with a gluten-free waffle, over easy eggs, sausage and bacon. The waffle was overcooked and a little chewy. That being said, his other plate of food was wiped clean.

The decor reminds me of a little country kitchen and the servers are very friendly. I could see why this is such a favorite-classic cozy breakfast spot thats fast, affordable and caters to an array of diners. Since its a pretty close trip from my house, I will definitely keep it in the back of my mind when I want something a little more than diner food.

  7. Great little place in a neighbourhood close by my old office. Ate at the counter with my friend, and we both had the buttermilk pancakes.
They were very good, coffee was also good!

  8. The Story: Finally decided to check this place out. I don't know why people bother going to IHOP when NJ is full of these breakfast places.

    Food:
I got their lumberjack special (?) I probably have the name wrong but its basically the eggs, the bacon, the sausage, the potatoes with the side of pancakes, waffles or french toast. The breakfast is decent.

Decor: I like the dining room. It has a very "homey" feel to it. They have cute decor on the walls and very comfy booth seating.

Price: Decent pricing. $12 for the platter I got.

Service: Average college student servers. Our bus lady came to clear our table before we even got the check but I cannot compare them to a higher tier restaurant. This is a local breakfast place duh!

Parking & Finding the Place: Located in Maywoods little 'downtown' area. They have a municipal parking lot around the back if you aren't lucky enough to snag a spot in the front.
