As a place to have a beer before or after a Mets game, this place isn't awful. It's huge and can get really packed but the bartenders seem to hustle.
I didn't try to eat any food so can't comment on that.
It is about what you'd expect from a faux-Irish pub that servers huge volumes of beer to your basic bros and their female counterparts.
Came here before and after the game. Was packed both times so be aware! Decent beer list and I love craft beer. Have never eaten there yet but once I do I will update my review. Expensive but expected
Huge Space. $50 2-hour open bar before games. bathroom attendants? and loud music. What?!. i said loud music!
For a restaurant/bar that is smacked into the side of CitiField, they can surely do a lot worse. If you're familiar with the other McFadden's location, you can rest assured, this is pretty much a carbon copy. The menu is standard pub fare, but they do it well. Wings, nachos and the burger were all decent (under no circumstances should these items be anything but decent), and the beer selection isn't exclusive to the rebranded cat piss choices like Bud and Coors. Before a game, it's absolute mayhem but it dies down and it's not a terrible place to go afterwards.
Far from my first choice, but if you're there and feeling lazy, it's a sensible choice.
I always come here to drink my first beer before the game and sometimes go back after the game. I usually just get the beers because their mixed drinks are always watered down, womp womp. Three stars because I always have to wait minimum 10 minutes for a bartender to finally attend to me and my first experience with water down vodka and soda.
I love Citi field. I love going to Mets games. However there is a huge lack of bars in the immediate area which means everyone funnels into McFadden's. Loud, rowdy, and full of Mets bros and ladies, it provides a necessary service to Citi: get the crowds going before heading in to watch the Mets hopefully kick some opposition butt.
The place is actually quite huge. When walking in, you have the option to sit and eat or wrestle through the throngs of people to the bar. Thankfully, it is a very large double sided bar which can support the crowd three deep. We were served fairly quickly and were able to make our escape to a less-likely-to-spill location by the windows. The music and DJ were getting people pumped, announcing birthdays and soon to be brides in the crowd. Once the game was about to start, a line formed inside the bar to let us directly into the stadium (right by shake shack). The entrance was very efficient and we were inside within 20 minutes, even with a very large line.
If you check into yelp for the first time, they offer a free draft beer which is nice when you go up looking to double fist (I am not pushing my way back to the bar a second time). However the lines seem a little meh so even a bug light tasted worse than usual. We purchased 3 bottles and our freebee which ended up being 21$. Not a bad price considering you are attached to a stadium. Plus it helped keep our drinking down in the stadium… HA yeah right we still had quite a few in there too, who are we kidding??
If you have tickets to Citifield or just want to come here for drinks its always a good time.
This place its huge with plenty of seats, the bar stools are really big I feel like you could fit two people on them but I never tried.
I usually end up here before or after a game since there is always a great vibe. The bartenders are nice and fast. The food is nothing special just bar food but it hits the spot.
At night they do play music and it becomes sort of like a sports bar.
Came here with a large group a little before the game ended and had a great time.
The DJ was playing a great mix of hip hop and dance music, and really had no issue keeping us on the dance floor at all times.
Drinks were all good, with standard pricing for a bar.
If you are looking to have a good time after the game and especially if you don't want to figure out what to do next look no further.
