Nice ambiance, located right by base of WBurg bridge, it was so nice walking home to Manhattan after this meal. Once again my theory that if I love the bread, I will like the meal came true. The rolls had flavor of a biscuit with the texture of a soft roll right out of the oven. With excellent butter and sea salt – these were delicious.
Best dish was the pasta with truffle sauce and hen of woods mushrooms. Bursting with flavor – pasta was cooked to perfection – only complaint is it was too salty. Other dish was rather average. I rate it as a pretty good place worth trying.
We went there for brunch. The food was very good. The presentation was delicate and appetizing. The place itself is beautifully decorated. I will definitely try it for diner once.
I've passed by Meadowsweet on my way to other restaurants and bars in the area before, but paid no mind to it. After lastnight's dinner, I am recommending this to all my friends who are looking for a great meal in this area.
Every single dish we had here was unique and full of flavor: crispy baby artichokes, burrata, fettucine nero & squid (my favorite, but it was hard to choose a favorite among so many tasty dishes), St. Louis ribs, LI duck breast, salmon tartare, and duck confit with lentils are all worth trying and sharing with a group of 6-8.
Service here was great and the restaurant is small, nicely lit, and well decorated. I highly recommend this place for a date or group dinner.
Not planed to eat here however discovered this small place on my way to grab bagel hence decided to give a try for brunch.
Meadowsweet does not have a huge brunch menu – mainly omelette/bagel/burger type of traditional American dishes; however it has proved its own characteristic. I especially enjoyed my omelette (with mushroom), which was soft and flavorful. I personally do not like the omelette cooked too greasy or too big in size – this one is perfect for me!
Heard the tasting menu to be a good bargain – would love to try it out and upgrade my review. It is Michelin one-star by the way.
My husband treated me to Meadowsweet on my birthday. We indulged in their 5 course tasting menu, which seemed more like 7 courses. Well worth the price tag. Meadowsweet is a Michelin Star restaurant, and it is easy to taste why…even the bread and fresh herb butter is outstanding.
The atmosphere is casual, yet refined. The food is innovated, and the expensive cocktails are well worth the price… and very addictive.
They grow their own herbs on site, and you can taste the freshness in each perfectly executed dish. Do not pass up the oysters, they are fantastic.
I came here for lunch. The hostess was a bit rude. She let out an audible sigh and grumpily said, "this way". Our experience with the waitress was better.
The doughnut starter was amazing. The unlimited drip coffee was very good too. The duck pastrami was mediocre (mostly potatoes). The poached eggs were overcooked. The yolk was pretty solid. The flourless chocolate cake special was too rich. It was similar to having a huge piece of fudge. The gelato was good.
I really wanted to like this place. I'll be back to give dinner a try but I won't go around advertising this place as awesome or even good.
I used up all my "sweet" puns on my previous review, so I won't make any for this one. Despite being a nature lover, I'm just not a fan of this meadow and don't get where the Michelin star came from.
My brunch-based experience netted a smoked salmon and potato pancake with poached eggs and mixed greens entree that was burned, flavorless and dull; along, with a hash and chorizo combo that could have been found at any ethnic diner in the city. The house cocktail of the day–the Brunch Punch–was all right, but not very memorable either.
The decor is lovely, and the service is nice, but I won't be trekking out to this under-developed part of Billyburg for brunch again anytime soon.
Their menu is seasonal, so I didn't see many of the recommended dishes on the menu when we arrived for dinner. But oh, did we eat well! My friend inhaled the red snapper dish, my other friend loved the pork loin, my other half's wagyu steak was like buttah deliciousness, and finally my dish, the duck breast? It was INCREDIBLE.
Also, their bread was oh-so-amazing.
We also splurged and ordered all the desserts (oink) – the chocolate cake, apple tart and panna cotta. The apple tart was the most loved out of the three.
The only feedback I'd give is around the noise level and the so-so service. I couldn't hear anything my server said, none of us could. So we never really knew what the specials were for that night. Also, it took awhile to flag someone down to order dessert, and to pay our final bill.
