Right there on the water on Columbia Street in Brooklyn right off exit 27 (Atlantic Ave exit) of the BQE you'll find a small Spanish community which results in a couple Latino business' such as the well reviewed Mucho Gusto restaurant and this place, Melissa Deli.
This place is the true example of a Bodega. I wouldn't come here for deli purposes, it's not the cleanest or nicest place but it is a place to go for some quick groceries, some beer, and a number of spanish food items like plantains. They take cards however last time I was there the card machine was broken and I had to use their ATM instead.
The TVs going here are always on the Spanish channels and the clerks here are all spanish who are shockingly not fluent in English. I had to read the total on the cash register last time I was here because the clerk didn't know the English words for $16 dollars.
