Great truck to grab a few quick tacos from when out and about in Forest Hills.
I typically get the carnitas tacos, which are good but a little greasy. The flavor is amazing though! I've tried the chicken tacos, and they were a little blander than I expected. I like how they make the tacos with the veg stacked on top and radishes on the side – very yum!
I was originally so excited to see that there was a taco truck in the neighborhood! I stopped by here for lunch and ordered two lengua tacos and one spicy pork taco. When I got my order, I got no lengua tacos but three different tacos. I was really disappointed that they couldn't even get my order right even though it wasn't very busy. One of them was just pure fat and it made me feel ill immediately.
I've slowly embraced the fact that I need tacos in my life more than any other kind(s) of food. Okay, partially true because I'd probably put Chinese Food, BBQ & Burgers ahead of tacos but tacos is making its way up on the ranking and in grand fashion.
Mexican Food is a no thrills late night taco food vendor right on Continental Avenue next to Citibank for those that find landmarking easier to navigate to. This is one of TWO Mexican late night spot around, the other being 5 Burro Cafe. Your only other option would be to travel a little farther to Roosevelt Avenue (Elmhurst, Corona, Jackson Heights, etc.) to get your taco fill. On most nights, I don't feel up to doing that. So, Mexican Food is where it's at.
Mexican Food is priced on the higher side for some reason. Especially being in Queens. Although, Forest Hills is known for higher priced dining but still I think it's a bit inflated. In Manhattan no, in Queens YES.
Food wise, they are pretty good and I think they are trying to up their game presentation wise. I am not easily swooned. I normally order the 3 tacos for $9. Sometimes I get adventurous and order something else but as I said, tacos do it for me. The pork taco, chicken, & steak all had great flavor. The lemon wedge instead of lime wedge was a question mark but it still brought out great flavors. The green and red sauce went really well with the tacos. The radish slices was nice for presentation but I didn't eat it.
Service wise, was good. I thought the lady was pleasant.
If you are around this neighborhood and don't feel like trekking farther for tacos, this place will do it for you.
FAN.
Who said good food only comes from a restaurant?
This Mexican Food truck hits the spot with 3 taco combo for $9. Ordered 3 types of pork tacos. Spicy pork, fried pork and roasted pork tacos as 3 combos. Taste reminded me of California street corners where tacos taste no less than authentic. Better than Cali taco stands, they serve you with lime and napkins with tacos in tin containers for easy carry togo. Look forward to trying other items on the menu in the near future!
Usually in September this cart is my life savior. Working late nights is one of the few edible things I can venture for, enjoy and know I feel truly guilty. But boy the satisfaction is just so great. Tacos are my things. Made to order. I usually order the carnitas which are priced incredibly reasonable, $3.00 each. You get a nice fat taco with juicy pork, chicken, meat or many other toppings. The menu is displayed on the food truck. They are open late night; 6 days a week. Sunday's they are not out there. The cart is right next to citibank. So it's conveniently located next to the 71st continental train station. I haven't tried their other dishes but the tacos have always been consistent. You can watch some novelas while you wait, since these folks have a tv inside the cart to keep them entertained when it's slow. Try them out and you won't be disappointed.
