A cuban sammich and two Coronas for 10 bucks. DEAL.
I went to nearby Riverbank Park with my wife as she played soccer, but inevitably grew bored and hungry, and so I walked for a few minutes to Mi Tierra.
I greeted the ladies behind the bar and glanced at the menu. Cuban sandwich for 4 bucks. DONE. Signs on the door for beer. $3 Coronas. GET OUT. Just an expression. Stay in.
Needless to say I was the only white dude and the only English-speaking dude in the place, and I'm not going to pretend like I "discovered" this place a la Columbus, but this very much felt like a local joint where families and friends get together. I was also the only one drinking beer (cough, cough), although there is a bar in the place.
The cuban sammich was okay. The bread and meat were pre-made and put in the fridge. Everything is toasted and melted later. The sammich was very garlicky (in a good way, it was an option I took) and pickly (sweet pickles, not dill). The sammich was good all the way until the end, and the last bite or two "felt" gross, if you catch my drift. It "felt" like food poisoning. Turns out I was fine.
I was flabbergasted when my bill arrived. TEN BUCKS. If you are looking for cheap eats, eat cheaply, here.
