Michaelangelo’s Little Italy
“The dipping sauce with bred was among the tastiest sauces I've ever had to dip bread in.”
“We ordered several dishes -stuffed mushroom, pear salad, lobster ravioli, etc.
I highly recommend Michaelangelo.”
“For our entrees my friend got the lobster ravioli which was delicious (they add way too much sauce on top) but it was still yummy (I took some from his plate).”

Pros:
* Michaelangelo's Little Italy is one of the few solid choices for satisfactory sit-down meals around the Bronx Botanical Gardens. If you're commuting by subway from outside the Bronx. better to come here when the weather is nice because it's a 15-20 minute walk from train station and another 15-20 to the Gardens.
* Lovely outdoor backyard space that is great for large groups or parties.
* Huge portions served with fresh ingredients. We were pleased with our dishes of Linguini Vongole (manila clams sautéed with a garlic olive oil and white wine sauce), Michaelangelo's Seafood Special (with shrimp and squid) and Fettuccini Alfredo Fettuccini Pasta (with chicken, cream sauce finished with parmigiano). With such immense, leftovers turned into another meal!
* Heated and soft starter bread with delicious tomato olive oil sauce
* Service was great
Cons:
* They seated us at a big table where water would not stop dripping onto my boyfriend until we resorted to moving tables…hope they fix that ceiling leak!
With entree and coffee total came to $36 including tax and tip.
This place was ok, but not worth going out of your way in my opinion. Especially if you're walking there from the 4 train (15 min walk!). There were lots of students there so I suppose most of the people come from Fordham anyway.
While the bread they give you is delicious, and the buffalo chicken pizza is good, I can't rave about the entrees.
We tried the Michaelangelo chicken and when the plate arrived (and ok maybe I'm just too used to Carmine's), there were just 2 small pieces of chicken on a giant plate! It came with a pasta of your choice and we got the fettucine alfredo, but the pasta tasted like pure butter and nothing much more.
I ordered the shrimp da frivalo and while it was ok, I wasn't a fan of them leaving the tails on the shrimp (so I had to cut them off) and again, wasn't as big as I would expect for $23.
The service was pretty good, though I would recommend that the restaurant either choose to take the food back to the kitchen to pack, or just leave the container and have me pack it myself. I personally found it a little strange to watch the waiter pack it in front of us. We sort of just stared while he did it. Nothing was wrong with it, it was just odd to us.
After an entire lifetime of hearing how awesome the food is on Arthur Ave I finally got to try out this place in Little Italy. After a day at the NY Botanical Gardens we hopped in the car and headed over for a late lunch (around 3:30pm). We were easily able to find street parking at this time but with all the restaurants in the area I can see this being a problem at dinner time.
From the outside Michelangelo's looks tiny. Once you walk in past the front area the restaurant opens up to a huge covered air-conditioned outdoor area. I really liked this because you feel like you're outside but are completely sheltered from the elements.
Service was friendly but not really attentive. They seemed to be busy planning for the Friday dinner rush.
We ordered two personal pies (about 12" but very thin crust). Two orders of rice balls. And they gave us a basket of bread. For three adults and three kids we had more than enough food for lunch. The food was good but I've had much better on SI and in NJ.
Prices were pretty high for what we had. Two bottles of Pellegrino $10 each. Each small glass of soda $3 (no refills). Three decent sized rice balls $10. And pizzas were $15. To top it off they included gratuity in the check. I'm not sure if it's because we had a party of 6 (3 of us being 10 and under)or this is just standard. Either way it was a turn off and we'd normally leave more than they took out on their own but we didn't feel service was good enough to justify adding more.
If you're in the area it's not a bad option but I probably wouldn't go back with the number of other restaurants nearby.
I came here with my coworker after a meeting. The food was delicious. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the friendly hostess who informed us in order to get the happy hour special, we would have to sit at the bar. She walked us to this backyard indoor patio which was extremely nice! We were seated right away. However, we were highly disappointed with the service. We had to call our waitress over multiple times to get drinks and to order our food. She obviously didn't like her job very much. The pizza was absolutely delicious. We shared a vegetarian slice which came with spinach, broccoli, onions and pesto sauce. The pie was perfect for two prowl to share. The only reason why I did not give this place 5 stars is because our waitress was rude. However, I will definitely come back when I am in the area to grab a quick bite to eat!
So far, this is my favorite place to go for dinner on Arthur Avenue. We were there on a Saturday night, we got seated right away and the place, at 8pm or so, was hopping. In the summer, if you can sit outside on the patio area in back, do it. It has a roof, and it has AC, but it is still sort of like being outside.
We had the lobster stuffed ravioli, the lemon chicken, the caprese salad, and who knows what else. The house Montepulciano is excellent and the service is warm and friendly.
Absolutely go here. You'll be greeted like you are family, the food is excellent, and the prices are what you'd expect.
Tasteless!
Service is good. Bread with tomato-olive oil
dipping sauce is really good.
Everything else was tasteless! Margarita pizza and chicken Michael Angelo.
Go elsewhere.
