Middle Village needed a wine shop like this-local and conveniant. This spot opened up approximately 4 months ago and is conveniaently located near my house and also near the q29 bus stop which is how I first noticed it. It's a good addition to a block that has a dry cleaners, pizza, deli, sandwich shop and a bar. The closest shop from here prior to this place opening is located on Woodhaven, not too far if you have a car but far enough that I would not venture out if I needed some wine. So score big on location Middle Village Wines & Liquors.
The inside is absoutely beautiful. Asthetically pleasing, new, neat and elegant. If you turn the corner on Dry Harbor, you see the back of a few shops and Middle Village Wines & Liquors added an awaning that just makes it look much better…basically it looks really classy.
I stopped in yesterday on a whim after taking the bus home because I am on this kick of cooking dishes with a wine sauce. The person inside (didn't ask if he was the owner and according to the receipt his name is Joseph) was really helpful and friendly. I got good vibes-and I am a social worker so I think that says a lot (haha). I asked for cheap/reasonably priced wine for cooking and he led me to some really good choices. I am not an avid wine drinker so I am not sure if the prices here are standard. I guess I will be learning about that in the future.
I am excited to hold a house party or have an excuse to pick up a few bottles and browse around next time! Welcome to the neighborhood Middle Village Wines & Liquors! You were needed!
I just checked out their website which is linked on the YELP page. It's awesome.
