Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque

“Lines in the food court gets pretty crazy at lunch but Mighty Quin moves relatively quickly.”

“Much like the Smorgasburg stand and the East Village location, this new one in Hudson Eats is already drawing big crowds.”

“Lots of times pulled pork sandwiches can be dry but this had awesome flavor and the texture was just right.”

  1. Today, spicy crispy chicken sandwich was incredibly dry and chewy — overcooked thigh meat. Last week, my pork cheeks were amazingly tender and delicious. Whenever I stop in for things like potato salad or sweet potato fries, they are consistently excellent. However, even if the food is great sometimes and just okay other times, there is a guy who works here that is incredibly rude, he questions people and doubts people and corrects people and second guesses people and ridicules people; it's really obnoxious.

  2. Solid BBQ options for sure. Went with a brisket sandwich which was super tender but was a little too fatty. I like my brisket fatty but they put 2 of 3 cuts of straight fat on the sandwich. My girlfriend went for the pulled pork which was also very good. For quick server BBQ it really doesn't get much better than Mighty Quinns.

  3. I landed at EWR at around 6, and I was starving — after getting to the financial district around 8pm, I was struggling to find a place that would be open nearby (was only in nyc for a night so didn't want to venture out too much) I yelped and found this place, and it seemed interesting as well as being nearby to a market that I thought would be nice to explore. The food court that Mighty Quinn's is in is so beautiful *_* reminds me of one of those super high end malls with Prada and Gucci and metallic exteriors.. you know those, right? Although it was only an hour till closing, the guy behind the counter was super helpful with recommendations, and they had run out of one popular item (forgot) but he recommended the pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious all the same. It was super greasy, but I feel like grease is a necessity to good bbqs so idk if it'd be fair to dock a star for that. They also had some pretty phenomenal pickles & coleslaw that came with the meal. Maybe I was just super hungry and thought everything was really delicious but according to the other great reviews for this place, I wasn't the only one impressed. : )

  4. I've tried to hit Hudson Eats on off-hours, so I don't have to contend with the crowds.  It might have been off-hours for Mighty Quinns too because I was really expecting this to be amazing, but it was a teeny let down.  Don't get me wrong – it was good… but maybe I'd built it up in my mind too much.  I got the burnt ends sandwich and luckily my sis reminded me to get it with the chilies… which was the only punch of flavor I got.  I would like to give it another try simply because the food still looks so appetizing and I feel like maybe it was an off day.

  5. This place is pretty good. I got the special which was a spicy chicken sandwich. I wish they had done more than just pour spicy sauce on it, but it still tasted great.

I love how they have the option for vinegar coleslaw!

We ordered a side of the corn fritters, size medium which I believe had 9 in them. They were so good!!! They fry them up fresh and have a pretty tasty honey dipping sauce. It's a corn hush puppy fried to perfection.

I was super juiced when they said they had fresh ginger beer, but when I got it, it was just a bottle that stated it was fresh ginger beer lol I was just expecting it to be…i don't know house made? Regardless, it was a brand I already had tried so it was still really good!

  6. I had Mighty Quinn's before at the West Village location, but it wasn't nearly as good as from the Hudson Eats location…and that's after it traveled from Battery Park to my office location on Wall Street!

I gave the West Village location 3-Stars, but this time when I had it from the Hudson Eats location, I give it 4-Stars.  Not sure why that is, maybe I just went to the village location on an off-day? Who knows.

As it was a rainy, dreary day, my group at work decided to send one of our junior guys to pick up several pounds of BBQ for everyone.

We ordered almost everything on the menu and here are my thoughts:

    – Burnt Ends: excellent, best thing here

    – Sausage: was a crowd favorite, had good pop to it, not too greasy with good flavor

    – Brisket: overall very good, but almost a little too fatty, but still good

    – Pulled Pork: not that exciting, was just ok, and least favorite of the bunch

    – Pork Ribs: pretty good, but not the best I've had, fairly dry and tough

    – Spoon Bread Stuffing: excellent, very, very good. loved it!..but I think you can only get it for takeout, not in the restaurant which doesn't make sense

    – Burnt Ends Baked Beans: also, very, very good

    – Sweet Potato Casserole: excellent, almost like crack, so good

So, as a group, we thought the Burnt Ends, Sausage, Stuffing and Sweet Potato Casserole were the Best of what we ordered.  The other items were very good as well, just not as good.

I haven't even physically been to this location yet, so I can't speak to the Ambiance, Service, etc, but for BBQ, it was very good, and actually traveled well.

Overall, I definitely recommend this Mighty Quinn location!

  7. In a very busy food court at Brookfield Place, Mighty Quinn is a very efficient operation.  Had the smoked brisket sandwich.  Melt in your mouth beef, perfectly cooked.  Excellent BBQ sauce was an option as it should be, not slathered all over the beef.  Fries could not be better.  Total bill was reasonable.  This BBQ would be a hit wherever it was located — north, south, east or west.

  8. I randomly pick this spot for lunch a while ago but I've been here a couple of times. Its inside hudson eats foodcourt. The foodcourt that I love. Lots of choices everyday.

I got the beef brisket sandwich with mayo salad, pickles & chili. And sweetened lemon iced tea for drink. I love it & for sure you'll gonna love it too!! Its simply the best with reasonable price. If you want sauce they have a bbq sauce that taste perfect with the sandwich. The second thing that I always get from here is the pulled pork sandwich. So juicy!

    I'll be back!!
