“For starters I must mention that I dislike shake shack because they lack flavor and quantity when compared to Milk Burger.”

“I live in East Harlem, so their delivery option is also great for when I'm craving a good burger and don't want to leave the house.”

  1. I've only got delivery off of seamless, but no regrets.  I love simple menus…burgers,  fries, and milk shakes.  What more can a girl ask for?

The burgers are good,  try the milk burger.   It boasts of Angus beef and their secret milk sauce.  I always opt for regular fries,  but they also have spicy fries, cheese fries, etc.  Let me not forget the milk shakes.   I've tried all the flavors….ALL of them.   My favorite is their strawberry…of course.

  2. * Overall they reminded me of The Shake Shack… Except less Fancy with
Higher prices & Worst fries! *

Little whole in da wall located with very limited seating inside. Burgers are about a 10 minute wait. The inside was filled with smoke, made it extremely stuffy. This spot definitely needs a stronger exhaust. Who would want there cloths smelling like grease & smoke!

I ordered the Double Milk Burger! It was great, the patties were perfectly cooked & juicy well seasoned. The milk sauce was banging, picture horse relish mix with mayo yummy!

The fries were nothing special. They were definitely not the fries in the previous yelp photos. They reminded me of over cooked crinkle fries I use to eat in school…

    FYI:       Free Delivery!

  3. In the heart of Harlem is Milk Burger. They do a decent job of serving a decent burger, but lacks some sort of special quality next to burger joint contenders in spite of a menu that seems so original and promising. It was unfortunately a less than spectacular burger experience.

Some burger options we tried — The Guacaburger (freshly made authentic guacamole on top of a cheeseburger), the Double Milk Burger (American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions and Milk Sauce), and the Double Jalapeno Burger (Black Angus, Jalapeño relish and melted Monterey Jack cheese). Overall the burgers were good, but I thought the beef was slightly overcooked and maybe a little dry in terms of texture, and hence, lost a lot of the flavor/juiciness. Interestingly, the cheese was the least favorite part of all the burgers. The bun is a standard potato bun, which is a great choice for a burger no matter what. Amongst all the burgers we each tried, I would say the Double Milk Burger (which I suppose is the original of them all) was the best. It must contain some sort of secret sauce, but whatever it may be, it adds something to the Milk Burger that lacks in the others. While the appearance of their burgers is reminiscent to say Shake Shack, this just doesn't compare. And maybe that's what they are going for, or not. Either way, I/we weren't impressed. The fries and onion rings we ordered to share didn't save us from our disappointments. Their crinkle cut fries were super flavorless and while I normally love onion rings, I wasn't a fan of these at all.

This is a really small restaurant with little to no seating. On a nice day though, there is a table outside with a few seats. I was a bit disappointed by our first visit to Milk Burger as our anticipations were high based on a strong recommendation. It is certainly not Shake Shack or better, and I wouldn't go out of your way to Harlem for this. If you are planning on it though, a safe bet is their Milk Burger. You could honestly skip the fries.

  4. Milk burger is a wonderful establishment run by wonderful people. My boyfriend lived about a block away, so we ordered at least a couple times a month. Over time, we were able to work  our way through the entire menu and never had a burger we didn't like.

Milk burger allows for pick up or delivery and doesn't have any actual seating space. You can order directly from the website.

    My favorites included:

Milk burger- perfect classic burger. Great tasting meat, fresh veggie topics.

Turkey burger- I love turkey burgers and feel as if they're often a bit of an after thought on menus- this is not the case at Milk Burger. Perfectly cooked (and if you've ever had an overcooked turkey burger, you know how important this is!) with delicious toppings.

Portobello burger- Great option for vegetarians, or if you're just not feeling meat. The mushroom is coated with what seems like a balsamic vinegar glaze. I personally didn't love it, but my boyfriend really did, so I think it's just a matter of taste!

Classic fish burger- CRISPY FISH PERFECTION

Arugula walnut goat cheese salad- Sometimes, you want to pretend to be healthy and order a salad instead of fries.Great salad with super fresh greens.

Spicy fries- Only thing better than crinkle cut fries? Spicy crinkle cut fries!

Java shake- Vanilla milkshake with Cafe Patron. Indulgent, over the top, and delicious.

Mint lemonade- The perfect thing on a steamy NYC summer day

Overall a great business, and possibly the thing I miss most after my boyfriend's move from East Harlem to Brooklyn!

  5. It was great. It was hot. Deliciousness. So good after every bite, you pull in the perfect ratio of layers and scarf it down while trying to make the moment last. Juicy. Burgers are AH-MAZING!!!!!

Seriously, I don't know why they even have the hot sauces and such out. Ketchup, however, was a delight when dipping those hot onion rings. These rings were filled with real onions, so bonus points for quality. Milkshakes are just thick enough, and lemonades just-so tart. Perfection.

Flaws: No access to a bathroom. But the real flaw is that I cannot figure out why this place doesn't have greater capacity for seating? I would definitely recommend and plan to return.

  6. The first time I laid eyes on this small/whole in the wall deliciousness was about two years ago, and then I moved three blocks away: DANGEROUS. I walked in and found out I got a free milkshake on my birthday, so of coarse I knew I was coming back for the free item. At this given moment I had NO clue what was about to happen.

I met the owner that day and we were just chatting away and then I spilt the beans about me being a food blogger/food critic. we started talking about ALL the burger spots I need to try and compete with. I started my mission after I left this place that I wanted to try ALL the great commonly eaten burger spots!!!

    (1) I always rate my first experience on walking into the building (greeting, the flow of the staff, and overall CUSTOMER SERVICE. They asked me all the questions that MOST burger spots forget too ask (how would you like it cooked? what type of fries even if its an up sale, what would you like to drink, hello don't you think I would be thirsty??). In the end I still was under 15 bucks, sooo no complaints.

Price and affordability is always in place (2)
I think its NYC prices, but I always think about where I can get a bang for my buck. In fact I rather go to Milk burger before any other spot because I rather support a Ma & Pa. I mean I don't know many people who haven't heard of Milk Burger (most haven't tried it), but EVERYONE including tourist know about Shake Shack. I defiantly believe its worth checking it out so you can have your own opinion.

    (3) I was talking with the owner about placement of each item. I've also noticed every time I've order take out the staff is very very clean, organized, and always work as a team. I'm sure working as a team helps the process, gets my tasty food out hot and delicious. This allows for great presentation and consistency with placement. EVERY time I ordered milk burger as delivery it was always perfect, snug in its wrapping, NEVER moved, harmed or out of place(ever)….

With all these things mixed together this is why I've chosen Milk Burger as my TOP burger choose.

I'm always a VERY satisfied customer

  7. This place is up there, it's pretty high up like borderline Harlem and honestly, it felt a tad out of place when you look at the surroundings. So Milk Burger is a really tiny, think fast food Chinese take out, burger joint that feels like a distant cousin to Shake Shack. It kinda has the some look but the feel is completely different. Seating is almost non existent, there are about 7 counter seats by the window and one table outside and it is hot inside. In terms of the burgers, they come out well done, on the website's delivery section they offer different doneness levels, not sure why this wasn't offered when I went, also I wasn't a fan of the texture of the beef. Beef had this weird consistently that I wasn't crazy about. I thought the choice of bun was great since it was a potato bun but I was not a fan of their cheese, the American cheese had a low quality feel, kinda like Mcd's cheese.

    The food:

Double Milk Burger- American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions and MilkSauce. This was the clear winner of the burgers we picked. The MilkSauce was really good, it feels like some kind of mayo combo but the flavor really works well with burger. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Double Jalapeno burger- Black Angus burger, Jalapeno sauce and melted jack cheese. This burger was greasy! It was oozing grease even before the burger was picked up. The spice level was minimal, the flavor of the burger was just OK. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Double Guacaburger- Freshly made authentic Guacamole on top of a cheeseburger. This was probable the most unique burger they offered and one of their most popular sellers. I thought the guac was nice, it had a little bit of heat but for me, I don't think it complemented the burger. I love guac and avocados but this didn't work on their burger. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Fries- Everyone I came with were not fans of their fries. The fries were crinkle cut, not crunchy, lifeless and clearly came from a bag they pulled from the freezer. It kinda felt like fries at a cafeteria or something you get at Great Adventure. Pretty disappointing.

Onion Rings- I normally love onion rings but the ones here were kinda meh and too salty. The rings were also too crunchy, felt like I was going to crack a tooth.

  8. I am adding an update because it's been three years and Milk Burger continues to put out great burgers and milkshakes while providing terrific customer service even though they have to balance that with what I know is expensive rent and challenging food competition. Overall, they continue to use high quality ingredients and they get their food out as fast as possible (although this isn't going to be "fast" for a burger that isn't essentially microwaved or deep fried) hint: order ahead of time for pick up, it's more efficient that way. The other day I placed a to go order and then it was taking an especially long time they took a moment to apologize and let me know they had gotten a big, several hundred dollar order that was causing the delay. I didn't mind, but I did appreciate the attention to customer service which has always been Milk Burger's gold standard. The prices have gone up, which is never fun, but is also understandable with overhead costs also going up these days. And as long as the burger stays dripping and evenly bursting with flavor and the chocolate milkshake stays extra chocolatey I will remain a fan.
