  1. Great little restaurant. Affordable. Most items are ~$5.
Good serving portion. Little on the salty side.
We got the Fuding meat soup. Big portion. But not as much real meat in it. Slightly disappointed.

  2. After passing in front of this place a couple of times in the past, we finally decided to give it a try for lunch on a cold Saturday in November.

We had two noodle soup dishes: ox bone noodle soup ($7.50) and fuding meat noodle soup ($5). For both soups we were given the choice among different types of noodles, which was nice. In general, the soup was tasty, but in both cases noodles were overcooked. The ox bone soup is the most expensive dish on the menu, but the quality of the meat is not very good. We couldn't figure out what fuding meat is; it doesn't taste like meat, and its consistency is not meat-like. The taste is pretty bland, and apart from the curiosity about its main ingredient this was not  particularly memorable noodle soup.

Min Jiang Jie Mini Cafe' is not terrible by any means, but give the fierce competition of excellent nearby noodle joints that offer a higher quality product at the same or lower price, you may want to get your noodle soup fix somewhere else.

    Very kids friendly.

  3. The people writing horrible reviews obviously do not know what real fuzhounese food is. This place is literally the only place out of China that sells fuding meat soup and the special sha xian wonton soup. My family loves this place because its as close as they can get to comfort fuzhounese food.

Who comes to Chinatown for service? They come for the food! Ming Jian also sells ice rice which is a chinese dessert delicacy, I have seen people order 5 at a time because it is that good.

My favorite here would always be the peanut butter noodles with the special wonton soup, a hearthy fuzhou village comfort food. If I am looking for something more diverse, I would go for the casserole with 5 choices for only 7$! It is very filling.

Come here if you are looking to experience a different type of food, as for me, I would most definitely be back.

  4. First! I never get to be first so this is exciting. What's also exciting? Trying to figure out what fuding meat is! It's probably pork. This is Chinese food (from Fujian province) and in Chinese food your default is always pork. It looks finely ground and pressed and the texture is very similar to that of fishballs. Porky fishballs.

I thought it was pretty interesting and tasty. The broth is light and delicate. To kick it up a notch, I was recommended to add some vinegar and these little pickled peppers that really changed the character of the dish. There's not a ton of places in the US to get this sort of stuff so check it out.

  5. What! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! And when I say this place is bomb, it's BOMB. Why? Surprise surprise cuz I'm Chinese.

Honestly best noodle combos- you pick your toppings and noodles and they make it for you RIGHT there. They also have 'cold rice', tea eggs, fish balls, peanut noodles (bomb), and other brisket etc noodle dishes. Best deal in town. LOVE THIS PLACE

Ps they also have BOMBASS chili oil/sauce. Not your whitey tighty kinda sriracha but REAL chili oil that is crunchy and actually SPICY.

  6. I had high hopes for this place.  I saw photos of Fuding Meat Noodle Soup ($5) in the windows and thought, "there's a dish I've gotta try!"

Well, I've tried it now and once is plenty.  I've been trying to find a recipe for Fuding Meat and have come up empty handed.  If I had to guess, I would say it's a mixture of fish paste and VERY finely ground pork.  Strong emphasis on finely because it didn't have that meat texture at all.  It was like eating salty, umami fried dough.

Another interesting option at this place was that you can choose the type of noodles you get in your soup – egg noodles, rice noodles, vermicelli noodles, and even (honest to god) instant noodles!

This place was mad cheap but and the people were nice but in the end, I was not a fan of the actual food.

The hubby was the only non-Asian person in the joint our entire time there.  Street cred points?
