  1. This diner is a true gem. It has a very old school feeling to it with booths and bar space. The staff is very friendly and personal with patrons which is always a plus. Unfortunately, they are cash only. I came here around 12PM for late breakfast. I ordered their HOMEMADE corned beef hash, two medium eggs and well done home fries and the dish was made perfectly. The corned beef hash was indeed homemade because I've had my fair share and its definitely different. Very seasoned and tasty. My friend ordered their pancakes and she was also very happy with her meal. The dishes came with free juice and coffee or tea.

Our whole meal cost us $21 plus tip. I will definitely be back if I'm in the neighborhood.

  2. Mineola Diner deserves 4 stars for just being there and representing a bygone era in Long Island Diners. We stopped for late bkfst and were fortunate to find a narrow parking space in their miniscule lot. They have alfresco dining in the front which on a nice day is preferable. The inside is full of old memorabilia and looks as old as it is 67 years old….nothing looks new!
The booths and counter space is limited but worth trying at least once. We ordered Double dipped french toast with sausage patty and a Jumbo Burger with well done fries, lettuce/tomato. French Toast was really good! the sausage patty surprisingly tasty. The Burger was huge but made med/well when I requested med/rare….despite that it was juicy and tasty…first time I didnt send something not cooked as requested back!! I had to consider where I was and nowhere did it say fine dining….lol…Prices are really rolled back and the breakfast special comes with juice and coffee for like $8.99….If your in the area its worth a stop just to try it and experience the nostalgia…not made up stuff but real deal.

  3. Open since 1948 this is a prototypical "Greasy Spoon"  old fashioned Diner / Luncheonette.  It's small and got that late 40's early 50's charm.  The smell of hash browns permeates the dining room.  I stopped in for a business lunch.  Noticed a lot of breakfast items and relatively slim lunch / diner offerings.  Prices are low.  I don't think they have air conditioning here. Saw a bunch of little fans going.  I ordered a steak quesadilla with fries off the lunch specials menu. It came with a cup of creamy tomato soup that was so-so. It could have been straight from a gourmet supermarket who's to know for sure.  The sammie was good with cuts of Romanian steak / flank steak and cheese between crispy tortillas.  Fries were not good, a let down. I was expecting more from a place supposedly built on folklore and nostalgia. This place could be great, but its not.  It's fair. Service was good and the waiter was attentive. Add a star if your a history buff or Guy Fieri fan.

  4. This diner is in the official registry of "original diners" and pictured in most of the books on these places.

We have only been there for breakfast but it was truly a memorable experience.  Your greeted with a smile and welcome.  It is very small and seating limited but there was plenty of space in the early AM.

We had a simple meal… eggs on a roll.  BUT….  The roll is fresh the eggs tasty.   Surprising enough that all places can't make a sandwich like this but it's just another reason that we will be back to try additional items.

  5. Old Style Diner complete with old crustiness.

This place has sat on the corner of Jericho Turnpike and Willis Ave for many moons – and it shows.

Recently they threw up some signs about being under new ownership – and me being real early for work went in to have a bite before my daily grind.

The place is very old.  Clearly the "new" owners feel that the grime is part of the charm.  The help ranges from hippie to bohemian.  The silverware is, for the most part, preloaded with food – nasty.

The coffee was good, the food was just ok, the waitress tried, but she may have been distracted by the 10 pounds of mascara on her eyes.

Much better diners exist elsewhere.  It is probably best if you go there totally shitfaced – or if you are 80 years old.

  6. Food is average.  You can definitely make all the menu items yourself at home.  But you have no time or you're too lazy, so you go to Mineola Diner for it.  That's all you'll get – food that is average, edible, fills your stomach, and sends you on your merry way.  There's a waitress who is like a grandma and she is awesome.  I would probably give her four stars if I am rating her service.  But then you have the other younger ones asking you to pass then the jam tray, filling the jam tray on your table while you eat, standing over you, and then walking away leaving the jam tray randomly sitting on the table in your way.  You walk to the bathroom and they will stand in your way.  Basically, not trained to provide good service.  But again, think of this as your home where things are just very casual.  That way, you won't be disappointed.

  7. I've been wanting to go here for years just because it looks so damn cute outside 🙂 finally went yesterday and yummy. plus it's in my town so gotta support the local places. it's also beyond cute inside.

  8. Not my favorite diner to say the least. Forgot to write a review about my experience over a year ago but I remember it perfectly. I ordered an omelet with broccoli and turkey and I received… an omelet with slices bananas inside the omelet and broccoli on the side. No I am not joking, that actually happened. Don't know how or why, all I know is not going back. I will stick to the Town House/Williston Park Diner every time.
