Came back for lunch after 2 years hoping that this restaurant has improved. I saw all the pictures on Yelp! with lots of new buffet items and the nice decor that I thought I'd revisit for an updated, better review. That, I cannot.
After rereading my past review, they still have the tacky Presidents paper place-mats. They did update their dining area, and to my surprise, totally ripped out the full bar. I guess if you're not serving alcohol, why would you need it. The food is served where the bar used to be. I was disappointed that I didn't get to try any of their seafood items nor goat curries. There were 8-10 vegetarian dishes and only 3-4 meat dishes, let alone they were mostly chicken. The only goat item was the goat biryani and even that had very little goat. There were no options for my vegan friend, who wasted his money on plain rice and potatoes.
Review of the food:
The best were the chicken wings and chicken curry (but compared to other Indian restaurants, these were mediocre at best). The sambar soup was not at all spicy like other Indian restaurants in the area. The deep fried corn pepper and salt was decent; a spin on a Chinese dish. There was an egg dish, which was basically a deep fried hard-boiled egg; weird. How can you mess up galub jamun – you can buy this stuff in cans. The galub jamun had a mealy and dense internal texture instead of being tender; it sits in syrup yet they did not soak up. There were no vegetable dishes except for salad. No saag, no aloo gobi. The variety was not enough.
I'm sorry I will not be coming back.
Great Indian food and a wonderful buffet. Not your typical lunch buffet, this is one of the biggest I've seen. There is a big selection of vegetarian and non veg options and far beyond the typical naan and chicken tikka. There are multiple soups and deserts and the food has interesting options like goat briyani and fish fry. Everything was tasty though with the buffet, everything is the mild spice level which I thought could be a bit more. There is tons of seating so waiting is not a problem. Service wasn't around much for the buffet, but was fairly quick with the bill and offered dosas. Very modern and nice inside though the music could be a bit quieter. Perfect spot for lunch.
