Food and staff were excellent. No frills Quality Japanese food. Fresh fish of quality. Here is where I would recommend improvement. The seating. The chair I pulled out for myself had a huge black stain running down the center as if someone had immediately pooped out the food right on the chair. The lady directed me to the seat, I pulled out the chair, saw the chair and decided to sit on the other side. Other thing I would change is the glasses. I ordered a sprite. I heard them pop the can in the back. They poured it into a tiny glass filled to the brim with ice. I bet less than half of the sprite can fit into each glass It required two glasses to get through the meal, or one serving of coke. The bill came and they charged me $5.90. I paid $5.90 for a can of coke that probably cost them less than .40. The food was good service was excellent but not the best bang for my buck. Probably wouldn't return.
The service is very good, and so is the food. This is the only sushi place in town so I really want to like it more.
Areas for improvement would be cleanliness. The dining area has a strong mildew odor which really gross's me out. And the glassware and plates don't seem to clean either. I always test out sushi places for lunch bc the lunch specials are usually much less expensive. So perhaps they clean up later in the day.
Just about everything in Manhasset is overpriced, sometimes even more so than Manhattan. For Misaki's lunch special, they try to offer lots of small items or sides like California roll, tempura, miso soup, salad and fruit. The lunch box combo came with decent presentation as well as adequate portion, but the flavors and use of ingredients were no where close to par. I got the chicken teriyaki combo and it was genuinely awful. The salad dressing tasted like soy sauce with added sesame oil, and teriyaki sauce for the chicken tasted, again, like soy sauce. I've accustomed to bad imitations over the years, but the fact that my chicken wasn't fresh, that made it inedible. They did, however, get one thing right – the crispy tempura. So if you're looking for authentic or quality imitation, the options are very limited around here.
This place is near and dear to my heart. A year ago, my fiancé set up the perfect proposal at this restaurant. But, I couldn't properly review it because I was so overwhelmed I couldn't eat the food! Finally, yesterday for our proposiversary, we had dinner here and I was really pleased.
We arrived a little after 8 on Saturday night and only 2 other tables were occupied. We looked over the menu promptly and the waitress brought over hot green tea and water. We ordered 2 starters first and then continued to peruse the menu.
We ordered the stack of avocado, chopped tuna, and lobster salad that was absolutely delicious. It could have used a bit more of a kick for my palate but it was good. The crispy rice was amazing. Flattened brown rice crisped to perfection with sliced avocado, spicy tuna, eel sauce, and a sliver of fresh jalapeño. It was delicious.
For our entree we decided to split the Misaki sushi special, which was 2 pieces of tuna, 2 of salmon, and 2 of yellowtail, a yellowtail scallion roll, and a tuna roll. We opted for a salmon roll rather than a tuna roll and they had no issue with that. Everything was fresh. The pieces were HUGE. They were practically double pieces. My fiancé has monk fish liver that was a very hefty portion as well. Their shrimp tempura appetizer was plentiful and fried perfectly. The batter was light and tasty.
I couldn't be happier that the place that is so special to me is also incredibly delicious. If you like traditional Japanese spots, this is for you!
Good, solid sushi all the time. OK prices, tasty fish.
