Misaki Sushi

“K-mac sliders – crunchy semi salty waffer acts as the "bun" sandwiching avacodo, spicy tuna, rice and topped with caviar.”

“I have gone to the "best" and classiest sushi places in manhattan, but they do not even come close to the Misaki quality of salmon.”

“The spicy tuna rolls were crunchy and the Oh My God roll was very good, supremely wrapped in pink soybean paper.”

  1. Definitely an above average sushi restaurant. Like a previous yelper said, I too could not have imagined giving a sushi restaurant in Woodrow 5 starts but it is well deserved.

From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look special, but when you walk inside it has a trendy, intimate atmosphere. Very clean and modern décor and colorful lighting. Service is impeccable, everyone is extremely attentive and polite, which personally adds to the dining experience. The warm hand-towels they offer before you order is a great touch, makes the experience more enjoyable and you do not feel like your being rushed in and out. Its those little things that count.

As far as the menu goes, they have a wide selection with some very interesting combinations. I recommend asking about their specials, those are extremely delicious.

    I HIGHLY recommend the:
"Dragon Balls" from their specials for an appetizer. I really hope that the special will be a permanent addition to the menu. Side from the gorgeous presentation, the dish was king crab with shrimp mixture covered in avocado with a light dressing. It forms good sized "dragon balls" which makes it a great dish to share.

I have always wanted to try Live Uni, for whatever reason I have always put it off, but lo and behold Misaki was offering it on their daily specials. Needless to say it was everything I expected and more, the presentation was outstanding and taste was as fresh as can be. If you have never experienced live uni and you are feeling adventurous, I do recommend giving it a try.

As an entrée, my boyfriend and I ordered the Sushi and Sashimi Lover entrée. It is severed with 5 pcs of sushi, 10 pcs sashimi, one Naruto roll, one salmon avocado roll and one rainbow roll for $34. As value goes, it is a great deal. Very filling and fresh. Only con was the rainbow and salmon avocado roll was very poorly rolled making it very hard to pick up without everything falling out, and they were on the slightly boring/lower quality side. But that was forgiven as everything else in the meal was top notch.

Overall, I think I found my new go-to sushi spot on Staten Island. Everything that I have tried was unique and executed flawlessly. I will definitely be becoming a regular here.

  2. Eh, I don't know how this place has 4+ stars on yelp. Must be you staten islanders. Everything was mediocre, but what brings my rating down from 3 stars to 2 was the UNI. Don't be fooled by the pics, because it must have been a good day with fresh uni. When I ordered it however, I got some really bad not-fresh uni you could tell by the coloring and then by the taste. Had to throw some out because I was afraid of being sick.  Torched salmon was not bad, but lacking in flavor. Handrolls were like any other handrolls. Wasn't impressed.

  3. In a time where it seems that so many sushi restaurants are more interested in simply getting you in and out than actually reminding you why you came in, Misaki Sushi sets itself way apart from the average "restaurant."

From the initial warm greeting as you enter to the well wishes as you depart, coming to Misaki reminds of the real reason any of us go out to eat at all. Let alone does the spectacular food remind your taste buds of what the limits of fresh and savory can be, but it's the service that satisfies that seemingly faint urge these days to enjoy wonderful ambience and the company of folks who love what they do! Kudos to the manager Steven for making it his goal to achieve this type of experience!

Regarding our food, the evening felt like a series of confirmations for what certain dishes "should be." Appetizers such as the k Mac sliders amazingly married a mix of creamy and crisp. I have never tasted wonton skins used in such a fun manner! Talk about an authentic and original sushi slider! Tuna carpaccio was made even more perfect with a drizzling of wasabi mayo that would add an epic kick to the sweetness of the fresh filet of ruby red tuna. Their Chilean sea bass, besides being regally decorated, was a level of plump flakiness that my tongue had never encountered. Lined with a kind amount of sweet and savory sauce, I could've left that evening just fine as it were.

But that was just the appetizer.

For our main courses, it would be safe to say that the items in the sushi regular for 1 and the sushi and sashimi for 1 could've probably been imitated at any other restaurant. But as mentioned earlier, Misaki creates the sushi experience as it "should be." Unfortunately, while I'm not a connoisseur of fishes of the sea, one needn't be an expert to love the deliciousness that comes from diversity!

From the buttery yellowtail and seared salmon all the way down to the perfectly seasoned rice and cucumbers that wrapped, the main dishes were worthy of a standing ovation. Simply take a glance at my pictures to see how well-crafted each dish was!

Both entrees, in their respective make-ups tasted of the finest and freshest fish one could catch. Additionally, the sauces, the arrangements, the creativity, and the perfect execution must not be forgotten. One cannot help but pinch themselves to ensure they're not dreaming. The amount of time it must've taken to prepare each of our dishes shows itself in these artisan-like takes on traditional sushi orders

Overall a top-notch experience. Aiming to bring more friends. Reasonably priced. A GEM FOR THE COMMUNITY.

  4. I am not surprised by the other great reviews on here. This place is amazing!!! Not only is it in my neighborhood. It's so close. I was more than ecstatic when I saw them building it. & little by little the excitement grew. Last night I ordered

    2 spicy tuna rolls
    1 Cali roll
    1 clear soup

My order was about $11! I was shocked. Most places have spicy tuna rolls for $5-$6.  Theirs was $2 and change. Super cheap. Then I get to pick my order up… Doesn't look like it belongs in Woodrow plaza thats for sure. It's so nice ! But as Woodrow plaza up and comes it will fit right along. So I'm like okay super cheap and so nice. Here's the real test…….Took a bite and was….amazed. Food is excellent !!!! Ordering a lot in the near future.

    Happy customer.
