Mitoushi Japanese Restaurant
“And they have about 30-35 special rolls, which are just out of control !:) Monday and Tuesday during the lunch sake , wine, juice, soda only 1 dollar.”
“My favorite: the mussels, the japanese pizza (although a bit pricey, $12.95 for 4 pieces), the kani salad and the squid.”
“Basically it's a mountain of minced salmon on top of a Wasabi cracker.”

This review is for the Kings Highway location, as I understand that Mitoushi is a franchise with several locations scattered around Brooklyn.
I went with a close acquaintance of mine on a very packed and busy Saturday night. The service that night was rather haphazard. The green tea, soup and salad came out within seconds it seemed. However, the main entrees we ordered took quite a while to arrive. Now, to the food itself. Visually, the cooks are very artfully skilled at presenting the sushi rolls in a such a pleasing way that they look like they would taste fantastic. Truth is, they are rather on the bland side. I found myself having to order a side dish of extra spicy mayo to dip the rolls in, because I prefer my food to have more heat and spice to it! Unlike many of the other reviewers here I will not jump on the gravy train and rave about ohhh how excellent the food is because if I will be frank it really isn't worth the price they charge, which is quite expensive especially for Brooklyn. If this was some high class place in lower Manhattan, I would understand but for Brooklyn Hell no! My acquaintance and I collectively shelled out over 80 dollars just for the two of us, and it wasn't all that much food. For that amount of money, I'd expect my food to hit all the bells and whistles taste wise!
Growing up in South Brooklyn, I gained an appreciation for many things. Pretty much most of what North Brooklyn offers.
Yet, nothing beats getting good quality sushi around my old stomping grounds.
Mitoushi offers good Japanese food, and fantastic sushi! I don't know what it is. I find that most sushi/Japanese places, don't offer the same high quality sushi that South Brooklyn locations like Mitoushi offer. It's more fresh and tastes better.
On top of that, the PRICES! The prices between are significantly better. Around where I live, non specialty rolls can run you twice as much as they would at a place like this.
The staff at Mitoushi are always very friendly and caring. The place is nice looking, without being too over the top or cheesy like some other places in the area.
I wouldn't necessarily come all the way here for everything. The tempura, goyza, and other item you'd find in their bento box are good. Not great. The sushi though is five stars.
If you're in the mood for sushi in Brooklyn, this is one of the best places around.
Decent rolls w/ a lot of special ones I've never seen before at other sushi restaurants. There were 9 of us and we had ordered a bunch of rolls such as the dragon, golden dragon, putin, valentine's, michelle.. and I can't remember the rest. Valentine's definitely stood out for me the most because of the crunchy texture and wonderful flavors. We also ordered salmon sashimi and theirs was fresh and in fairly big chunks. I'm glad they cut it right because I've been to some that looked like they butchered the entire salmon with a not-too-sharp knife. We tried some appetizers too like salmon tartare, marinated baby octopus (cold), and smoked salmon on top of kiwi. Salmon tartare and octopus were both delicious. The smoked salmon one was interesting and unique, but not exactly my favorite. For dessert, I got their green tea ice cream because I love green tea ice cream. There are two different kinds that you may get at any and all Japanese restaurants, it might be the sweeter one, or it might be one that is more tea flavored. This one just so happens to be the tea flavored one. Someone else in my group got the fried ice cream and it wasn't that great. It wasn't fried the way we thought it would be, and came out a bit soggy in some areas. I'd just stick with regular ice cream.
All in all, Mitoushi definitely offers some pretty good sushi and sashimi using fresh, quality, ingredients. Their prices are rather typical with their rolls ranging from $8-13. We left super satisfied and would gladly come back again.
The rolls were really good but I wish I would have known beforehand that the Godzilla roll has raw fish, which was misleading because it says the roll is fried, which it is but only around the outside. The curry chicken rice was ok because I expected katsu chicken but it was just chicken breast, which I guess is healthier. I loved the Odessa (fried fish) roll and the beef udon was very good too. We will probably come back soon. 🙂
The best sushi in South Brooklyn hands down. You can't go wrong with this place whether you dine-in, take-out or get delivery.
Perks include: Sapporo on tap, friendly wait staff and a surprisingly good ambiance for a place like Kings Hwy.
Try the lamb chops and you won't be disappointed.
Pretty nice sushi place, didn't expect it to be as good as I thought. We had the rainbow roll, the Alaskan roll, the sweet potato roll, and I believe the emmons roll and some chicken roll that I forgot the name of. It was pretty good but we weren't full so we had the vegetable gyoza which was green! Pretty cool and tasty to me but not so much for my boyfriend. The atmosphere was nice and the customer service was good.
You can always count on Consistent & Quality service from Mitoushi. I am a frequent customer of the sheepshead bay rd location but when I am visiting friends closer to this location they are my go to sushi spot. No matter which Mitoushi location you go to you know what you get. You get above average sushi for almost the price of half off sushi.
You will not go wrong eating or ordering from this location. Enjoy your sushi!
PS I started ordering duck rolls and they are really good. So far everyone I have put on to this dish have loved them.
Ordered takeout from here for lunch. Very mediocre in my opinion. I got the Chicken teriyaki lunch special that comes with soup/salad, siumai, and California roll and while $12 (tax and tip included) for all this food may sound very worth it, the food tastes very meh. The chicken was really dry and tasted like the grilled chicken that you get at a deli (aka not made to order). The siumai did not taste authentic at all, even though I hadn't expected them to since they're from a Japanese restaurant. California roll tasted a little off because the rice was too mushy. Miso soup was way too salty…I really hope the sushi rolls are better because I'm going to be in this area for a while and looking at the (lack of) other food places around here, I'll probably have to order from them again…
