This place was pretty good when it first opened, but it has gone way done hill since then. The last time that I was there the sushi was no better than one of those all-u-can-eat places. The service wasn't great either. I won't be returning.
Moca is about 2 minutes from my house. I went once during a time of desperation during a snow storm a few years ago, but I've never had the desire to go back. Now I remember why.
I ordered take out…miso soup, General Tso's chicken, and Crispy Sesame Chicken. The total was a whopping $35. That is very expensive for Chinese take out.
How they managed to make both dishes tasteless yet taste exactly the same is beyond me. It wasn't even a large portion.
I'll stick to cheap Chinese take-out next time. At least it has flavor.
Bumped up a star because of the nice decor (although this is redundant for take-out) and the employees are nice.
Hmmm… I'm giving MoCa a 4 star review in relation to the competition on Long Island, but with a caveat- I fear that it would fare much worse in the city. Overall, it has an upbeat and sleek look to it, making it a fun place to visit on a local night out. The service is fast, friendly and attentive. The menu is huge and eclectic, offering a large amount of samplings from Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Indonesian cuisines. Overall, the appetizer menu was the most impressive, as it offered creative takes on Asian staples. We tried the "crunchy crunchy crunchy"- which was hard tempura wasabi seaweed served in a tower, and layered with a crunchy tuna mixture. We had a lot of fun eating it! The favors and textures were exciting. We also had a red dragon roll. The roll and tuna towers were tasty, but the food snob in me is hesitant to say that I loved them because I felt the fish wasn't nearly as fresh as it could have been. Honestly, that's my own real issue with this place!
We also had the zen fried rice (lightly fried rice with egg and a few veggies) and the General Tso's chicken. Ding! We have a winner. The chicken was fantastic! Really moist and perfectly pan fried without feeling overwhelmingly fatty. Usually I love general Tso's, but am weary to order due to too much cornstarch and fried grossness, but MoCa really did a great job of making a lighter version of the dish. We really couldn't get enough.
This place is great, but I'd say avoid the sushi if you're particular about your fresh fish. The menu is really fun and the food is pretty tasty. I happily left with a serious (MSG induced?) food coma.
Went here for lunch with my bff. Always desired to eat here. Sushi was good. Lunch prices were reasonable. Pineapple fried rice….TOO GOOD! I would go back just to have that. Lol
