  1. I was pleasantly surprised to see a platter place open nearby where I live. The only other platter place near me, without going into the city, is Juicy Platters, but that's all the way in Fair Lawn.

I wanted to like it, I really did. But alas, the platter was just okay. I ordered the chicken gyro platter, for $6.95, which came with rice and salad.

I topped my platter with white sauce and red sauce. Note: their red sauce is sriracha sauce. Their white sauce tastes a bit like sour cream. The sriracha sauce, I'm not a big fan of with this type of meal. It adds an additional flavor that didn't mix well with this type of chicken and rice. The chicken was somewhat flavorful and the rice was okay, but the mixture with the sauces and flavors, just didn't do it for me.

Juicy platters comes closer than this place does to the goodness at the New York street carts, but both places still have a long ways to go.

The staff was nice and the store is hidden off the main road, in sort of a mini mall. There's parking available, but the lot is small.

  2. Sadly I've given this place a chance several times now, and at this point I'm awaiting juicy platters to open. I really do like the food but they always over cook their meat, and I mean always! I have asked several times for them to not overcook it and they just keep doing it. Last time I and two friends ordered from here we literally didn't eat half our food. The prices are great but you guys gotta fix that grill or something! I really tried hard to like the food bc the family that owns it is super nice but I can't bring myself to give th anymore chances. Sorry guys… =* (

  3. I love Halah food, when I heard about this place I had to give it a shot. I got the Moe's special since it was a good way to try a variety of their grilled meats. It consisted of chicken and kofta kebab, gyro meat with salad and rice for $9.95. Although the meats were seasoned well, everything was extremely DRY and hard to eat. After every bite, I needed to take a sip of my drink since my saliva couldn't do it on its own. The rice was bland and flavorless but that salad was perfectly delicious.

I also tried their 3 pieces of deep fried chicken served with a piece of bread. It came with a breast, thigh and wing. It was perfectly crispy, tender and juicy but very oily. The bread was unnecessary and very dry. I did take a look at their fries and those looked great but I can't say for sure.

The white sauce they had did not have a pleasant taste, it was very watery like a milky consistency with a hint of dill. The hot sauce was just simply sriracha, nothing unique. Although they are reasonably priced, and provide a decent amount of food, I'm not sure if I would return.

  4. After passing this place many times and picking up a menu, I finally decided to stop in for a taste of what this place has to offer. I was thinking of trying the buffalo wings but since this place has more of a middle eastern flair I opted for the mixed gyro platter. You basically get a mix of chicken and beef atop chicken flavored rice, and pita with a side salad. The salad consist of red/green peppers, onions, tomatoes, and cucumber topped with vinegar and seasoned based dressing that I can't put my fingers on.
The portions were nice! Lots of meat and lots of rice with a nice little side salad. Wish I had gotten a little more white sauce to go. It is a less thicker consistency then what I'm used to but it didn't effect the flavor. Will be sure to get extra for next time. It was still good without saucing it up with white sauce and siracha. A previous reviewer said her meat was dry. Maybe she just caught them on a bad night. It really looks drier on the outside but when I bit into the meat it was quite moist in my opinion. I despise dry meat so I would know.
Chicken rice was soft and cooked perfectly with a nice flavor. In addition I got a soft pita bread with all my favorite veggies in one salad as well. Very filling; glad I got this instead of just hot wings. I had a little left over the next day which is always good.
There are some vegetarian options such as hummus, felafel (platter and wrap), fish tenders, grape leaves, red beans, as well as others (mainly side orders). I think they mainly have chicken rice but they may serve white rice if asked. I have only been here once so I didn't ask. So it might not be that great for vegetarians because half of the menu is meat based.
On a side note, I love all the chicken decorations everywhere! I'm a sucker for chicken decor and a quaint atmosphere hahaha!
Good prices and good food so you really can't go wrong! This spot is fairly new and worth it to check out if you are in the area.Love it! I will definitely be stopping in again and am eager for my next visit and next dish. Will update after I try some more items off the menu!
