  1. I know – it's a chain and yada yada yada.

But this Moe's is still the bomb.  SO much better than having to venture into the bowels of Penn Station to get your quest fix.

It's always clean, they're always friendly, and the seating is absurdly comfy for a fast food joint.  Plus it's close enough to Bryant Park to picnic-it if you're so inclined.  And free chips and salsa, for the win!

  2. The only legitimate reason why I even bother to come here is for its "Moe Monday" deals which features any burrito bowl or burrito for $6 (with tax that comes out to $6.53). Otherwise I wouldn't even bother stepping foot into this place.

I mean, don't get me wrong. It's a great deal considering the amount of food you get. I like to get my monies worth and overload on all the toppings (including guac) and all the different types of sauce they offer. But in my opinion, I think the food is rather tasteless and bland for the most part. It's not THE best, but it's what $6 can get you in Midtown Manhattan for lunch.

As for the service itself, I've never experienced any problems while dining here. Aside from the occasional employees goofing around in the back, I think the service is here isn't bad. There's also plenty of seating and several televisions laid out throughout the establishment featuring sporting events and the news.  The establishment is also generally kept clean. Another thing I like about Moe's is that they provide chips with every order. So that's a plus. There's also a variety of dips you can choose from next to the soda machine. I just don't think that most "spiciest" dip there should be even considered spicy. It's mild at best.

  3. I've been eager to give this location a shot since I used to go to the one in Penn Station every so often.  Here they have any burrito for $6 on Mondays which is a great deal.  Unfortunately service is rushed along as if they run of an ingredient they'll pretend they didn't hear you and just move your foil along the pass.  In my case it was mushrooms – the burrito very much needed it as they are trained to give you as little meat as possible and over stuff it with rice and beans.  As I attempt to ask for this and that, the last assembler kept trying to wrap my burrito up as quickly as possible.

As for the quality, it was definitely lacking.  The pulled pork was more like liquefied pork reheated many times over during the weekend (which might explain $6 Mondays).  Sure I'm full – with all that rice and beans, how can you not.  Sadly the best thing was the chips (mostly crumbs at the bottom of the bag) and salsa.

  4. Came here for lunch. This isn't much different than going to Chipotle. Food is similar and lines move just as fast.

I had the Band camp burrito bowls. This is served with seasoned rice, beans, shredded cheeseC pico de gallo and handmade guacamole. Also served with nachos.

I have no complaints about this place. Would recommend to anyone who likes chipotle.

  5. My ranking of burrito chains in the city goes like this:
    1) Dos Toros
    2) Chipotle
    3) Tres Carnes
    4) Moe's

Really the only time worth going to Moe's over the others is if it's Monday and you're starving, since you can take advantage of their Moe Mondays and get chips and salsa with your burrito as well. The difference in taste and quality is discernible from the first bite. I have heard good things about Moe's queso though and might come back for that if the craving hits.

  6. Stopped by to claim my free burrito, which you get for downloading their rewards app.

I immediately noticed the difference between Moe's in the city, and well, everywhere else in America. The Moe Monday's is $2 more ($7.99), their "Welcome to Moe's" cheer is so weak and inauthentic they may as well not say it, and of course, they skimp like crazy on the portions.

Oh yes, thank you for half spoon of chewy, over-cooked steak counterbalanced with the heap of rice. That's exactly the kind of practice that made fast-casual restaurants like Chipotle so successful. Oh wait. Not. Lol.

Thanks for the free shit Moe's, I won't be back to any of your locations in the city.

  7. I like it. Probably not as "organic" as chipotle but the portions are big and they give free chips! Also lots of sauce to choose from. Price is cheaper as well!

  8. My gf had to pee really, really, really, really bad.  Very few bathrooms in the area, as we learned the hard way, but the girl at Pret said Moe's might have one.  We rushed over and the girl behind the counter said the bathroom was for customers only!!!  OK, great I say, I will buy anything, for the love Christ, JUST PLEASE LET HER USE YOUR JOHN!!

Since fortune had smiled on us and her bladder, we were forced to buy something at this unfamiliar tex-mex place.  I asked the young woman what is good and she said the chicken was popular and offered to let me try it.  I love places that let you try menu items before ordering.  The chicken was pretty good and the people behind the counter could not have been nicer!  Rosa, the young lady that helped us, was an absolute delight. Then the dude next to her also suggested that we get the chicken because a new batch was just coming out.  How considerate of you to say so my good man! (I hate it when you go to Chipotle and get chicken and then right after you order they dump a bucket of fresh cooked chicken into the container!)  In an idea world, there should be some sort of warning when fresh meat is on the way!

The burrito we ordered was very good and the price was right.  The frosting on the cake was the free chips that came with the meal (chips were not too salty and very tasty).

They say sometimes it has to get very dark before you can see the stars.  Sure my gf almost peed herself, but we ended up having a romantic date night and sampling some delicious tex-mex at Moe's!
