  1. Such a cute cake/dessert shop!  The outside resembles a school bus (black/yellow) and the inside is decorated to look like a classroom.  Shelves are lined with old school lunch boxes; the menu boards are of course chalkboards and there are even swings to sit on in the front of the store!

Apparently the owner named the store after one of her favourite teachers.

I'm not a huge sweets/dessert person so I only had half of one – Chocolate Mousse.  Rich, decadent with a mousse filling inside – just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.

The service here is pretty sweet (pun intended!).

Stop by here for the kitsch and a cupcake or 2

  2. Being a cupcake fan, these cupcakes are absolutely amazing. So delicious, I had one cupcake left when I went away for 2 days and I actually missed being in my apartment to eat it. I may have missed the cupcake more than I missed my husband. Mildly crazy, I know.

I got the birthday cake cupcake, the strawberry shortcake, the blueberry cheesecake and my husband got the cookie monster. Out of the three that I ordered, the blueberry cheesecake was probably my favorite. It has such a good graham cracker crust on the top along with the cheesecake filling with fresh blueberries. It is so beautifully made and moist that I dont think I have had better cupcakes. I ate the strawberry shortcake cupcake for breakfast thinking I could get away with it because of the strawberries. Also very good and moist with fresh fruit. The birthday cupcake is awesome because of the cake batter filling inside. The cookie monster is also amazing.

I also ordered a caramel coffee which was way too sweet. I asked the young lady to change it to a regular coffee which she did with a smile.

My bill with 4 cupcakes and coffee came out to be 20 dollars. It was worth it.

I am most definitely coming back. If I move from New York, I am getting these delivered. Very highly recommend.

  3. Price point is perfect. Friendly staff. Yummy strawberry shortcake. Nice vibe. Seating. Definitely go, and bring your friends or kids.

  4. I have watery mouth just thinking about these divine cupcakes…I honestly don't regret any calories consumed by eating them! Molly's Cupcakes bake its treats from scratch in small batches everyday and throughout the day, so you can ensure that they are fresh. They are famous for the center-filled cupcakes, with unique flavors that range from cake batter to peanut butter to peach cobbler. I was lucky enough to try SIX different flavors (one bite each…I promise!) and they were all AMAZING.

Creme Brulee: Definitely the most unique one! The top of the cupcake is perfectly caramelized for that crunchy texture. Underneath the caramelized sugar is moist vanilla cake with creme brulee custard. It is topped with glazed berries. I wished there was more custard inside.

Peach Cobbler: It's amazing that the cupcakes truly taste like what they are named after. The Peach Cobbler is also made with vanilla cake as the base, and topped with light, homemade whipped cream, sliced peach, and brown sugar streusel. It's filled with cinnamon peach puree.

Blueberry Cheesecake: While I could not really taste much of the cheesecake (they need to amp up the fillings!), this vanilla cake with blueberry bits in the batter is topped with cinnamon graham cracker crumbs, pastry cream, and glazed blueberries. It's fruits, so it must be healthy, right?

Cookie Monster: Made with classic vanilla cake with chocolate chips, the Cookie Monster is filled with raw cookie dough center with buttercream frosting and mini chocolate chip cookie on top.

Cake Batter: This one tasted a bit denser than other cakes. I think the raw cake batter filling in the baked cake batter is a bit over the time, unless you are a huge fan of cake batter. It's made with vanilla confetti cake and topped with vanilla buttercream and sprinkles.

The Ron Bennington: I'm not a huge fan of chocolate so this was my least favorite, but if you are a chocolate lover, then you must get this cupcake. It's very decadent and rich, and made with dense chocolate cake with peanut butter filling, chocolate ganache, and crushed butterscotch topping.

  5. Best cupcakes I have ever had. Seriously… The cupcakes here are to die for. All of the cupcakes I tried were cold and I was told that they needed to be refrigerated within an hour. They were are so delicious and had amazing fillings and toppings. My absolute favorite is the creme brûlée cupcake. The caramelized sugar topping still had a small crunch to it and the vanilla filling was just perfect. The cupcakes run at $3.75 each, but if you're visiting New York, this is a must try! Do yourself a favor and try a cupcake or two. They also have fun and cute sprinkles by the sugar and cream. When I was there, the sprinkles were dinosaur shaped!

  6. Randomly stopped by Monday evening and I'm so glad I did. I don't usually like cupcakes because I tend to be repulsed by butter cream frosting but boy oh boy did I have 3 delicious treats.

My boyfriend and I ordered the peanut butter and Nutella, creme brûlée, and blueberry cheesecake cupcake. The creme brûlée was everything; it was so delicious. The filling in the center was decadent and cake was very moist with a little crunch from the flambéed sugar on top. The blueberry cheesecake was my second favorite and it was moist and super palatable with the fresh blueberries. Lastly the peanut butter and Nutella cupcake had a Nutella filling and butter cream frosting; I liked it but the frosting was preventing me from loving it.

They were well worth the $3.75 each.

  7. Molly's is the spot! Moist, succulent, flavorful, sweet, and downright delicious! On a recent visit I got the Ron Bennington and it was seriously delicious stuff! Chocolate is something I already love, but pair that up with the peanut butter filling and now you're talking! I love the balance and ratio of the cupcake, you get the right amount of everything – cake, filling, frosting. Now that I think about it, maybe I should have ordered 2 instead of 1.

I haven't tried the other cupcake options yet, but future visits to Molly's will help me accomplish that feat. Can't wait to be back! It's the perfect treat!

  8. I can see why Molly's was the first to win Cupcake Wars. It is as good as it gets. This was one of our stops on our NY Cupcake Tour where we were able to Build Our Own Cupcake. We were given cake options such as vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, carrot, and banana, as well as frosting options such as vanilla, french buttercream, brown butter. I opted for the banana cake with brown butter and it was DELICIOUS. They have a side area where have the "Sprinkle bar" which you can put whichever sprinkles you want on your cupcake. I will say that there was a lot of frosting on it for me which was really sweet, but the cake was moist, soft, and just perfect. Hubby, who is not a huge sweets fan, got the red velvet with french buttercream, and said it was pretty good. They also have various flavors they created such as a blueberry cheesecake option and cake batter (their most popular) which looked amazing. I wish they had more locations near me because I think Molly's has become my absolute favorite cupcakes! Hey Molly's.. come to Philadelphia!! 🙂
