The salad was excellent the dressing was mixed in perfectly. Very good pork Katsu, but was needing a little more kick to it. Know my girlfriend had amazing pork goyza it had flavor in and outside of the dumpling which made them very tasty. We also found an interesting soda made out of cucumbers which is very refreshing during a hot day.
Went here with my boyfriend for the date night I demanded, and it was an average sushi experience. We were able to get a seat on a Friday night, which was nice. But the restaurant was really cold, even though we were asked to check our coats (coat check is free) and told it was actually warm in the restaurant (it wasn't). The food is okay, but the portions are kind of small. You can definitely get bigger portions of sushi at other neighboring places that is pretty matched in quality.
The restaurant is also cash only and maybe this is just me, but I didn't notice signs posted anywhere saying that, along with no notice on the receipt. It was fine, we had cash and they had an ATM, but there really needs to be some communication if you're not going to accept credit cards at a sort of expensive restaurant.
This place answered the call when we were looking for a late night dinner in Bushwick on a holiday weekend. They share the space with another sushi place. Simple warm decor with dim lights. Communal style dining. It's intimate and hipster at the same time.
My husband and I shared the Japanese fried chicken, the Party Bomb and the glorious Heritage Pork Betty. Great presentation on all the dishes. The Pork Betty was 'fall off the bone' delicious! We even took the sauce home with added rice just to soak in all that richness. The party bomb was a great choice for 2 people, the spicy mc bomb was not that spicy. I honestly can't remember which was one was my fav but it was all good. Fresh ingredients all around. The fried chicken was crispy and well done.
Of note, that cucumber soda is also low key bomb, so refreshing. Also tasted the white sesame seed ice cream.
Great service. Their kitchen was closing within 45mn when we arrived. Our food arrived quickly and our waitress kept checking on us.
Cash only.
Very nice restaurant! The concept is fun. The food is light and delicious. The staff is friendly also.
A hidden gem in Bushwick. Do not drive past this place! It is very easy to miss. The lighting inside is very dark and it has a cozy atmosphere. There is communal seating on long wooden benches, so be sure that you're comfortable with that before dining here. The place really has character, very "Bushwick". My party and I came here at 3:30PM on a Sunday and there was plenty of room. The servers here are very friendly and professional. They genuinely care about their customers. It's a shame that it's a bit of a far troop for me to get here, or I would come to Momo all the time!
After ordering, our server placed three sauces in front of us. Turns out, they were pre-mixed soy sauce and wasabi, suited for any level of spice tolerance! I discovered this place through yelp, so without a doubt, I HAD to order the Party Bomb. It comes with 12 dome shaped pieces of nigiri, 3 of each kind – spicy mc bomb, mc low bomb, pink bomb and a choice of sp una, una or vegan eel bomb (we chose the sp una bomb). They all tasted delicious! I really liked the wasabi cream on the mc low bomb. I've never had sushi like this, so it was very interesting and they were small and fit right into your mouth.
We also ordered the Steak and Egg Donburi, Pork Tonkatsu Don, and Pork Ramen for our entrees. These came with a choice of miso soup or salad. I really liked the salad, but my cousin said the miso soup was really salty for her. The Steak and Egg Donburi tasted amazing! I was pretty sad when I couldn't force myself to finish because there was a lot of rice and I had already consumed a lot of rice from the Party Bomb. The steak was delicious, the eggs were scrambled and very good, not too salty, and the rice was great, not too firm. I tried a piece of pork from my boyfriend's Pork Ramen and it was bomb! It was so yummy and tender. He loved everything about the ramen. My cousin said that the pork Tonkatsu was a bit salty for her taste, but still pretty good. I really liked it here! And I will definitely try to return when I can!
Not bad, not bad, not bad.
Immediate seating on a Saturday around 3pm. Quick and friendly service.
Be sure to ask questions and seek clarification on what you're ordering as there's not too much explanation on what the Asian terms are. You may be disappointed if it's not clear you're getting a roll versus a "bomb" aka a mound of rice, versus a hand roll etc….
I wish there were more noodle dishes on the lunch menu, too.
Cash only which is always an unnecessary obstacle.
Overall, you'll spend maybe $15 or $20/person on a roll or two and a drink.
Props for the vegan options and tofu cream cheese. Menu is very clear on vegan and vegetarian options, because duh this is Bushwick.
It's well known that Momo is the best sushi in Bushwick. Nothing more to really say… just gods damned good sushi.
We stopped by here ragged and starving after a long flight. Were glad we did. The sushi bombs were tasty, and the fish was fresh. We also ordered the salmon roll as well as a side of miso soup. Though the latter two items were simple and straight forward, the freshness and flavor made it a perfect pairing for a great lunch. We arrived at approximately 1 PM, and there was no significant wait. The server was cordial and helpful. We would definitely recommend this sushi restaurant as a safe bet if you're craving a light meal.
