  1. The pickled celery in the habanero chicken melt gives it a great added flavor.  I don't usually eat celery, so this was a good way to get some of that celery nutrition in my system.

The dessert melt with marscapone and honey is really good too!

  2. Again another SOLID 4 for the Morris truck. Came to Deer Park specifically to get another Delicate Cheese.

Let me tell you something…. this grilled cheese is what dreams are made of. It is heavenly!

Plus it helped that we were done with ordering and getting our sammies within 10 minutes. All of the other lines were CRAZY long and honestly I had my heart dead set on Morris.

Plus no disrespect but I look at Food Truck food as finger food/portable food. Kept seeing some peeps walking with plates of lasagna? Sorry pals. I'll be sticking to my momma's lasagna! This ain't no place for lasagna. C'mon!

    Until next time Morris! :))

  3. This truck is owned by Morris Day and the m***erf***ing Time. So how about that. Let's go crazy. Let's get wild. I'm not going to let the elevator bring us down.

I've tried the sandwich here and at the Brooklyn sandwich shop, and both times it was just okay. My friend really liked it the first time, hence the encore. I think maybe it's a tiny bit greasier or juicier at the truck, but maybe that's my imagation. It really doesn't do anything for me.

It may have scored a 4 for being decent and family owned, but each time I tried to get here before closing – even if I was 20 mins early – he'd already be packed up and gone. I wasted a lot of time in NYC traffic trying to get to this truck, and when I finally managed to do it, it wasn't worth it.

But as Garland said, friends who are unhappy with their own local food truck say, "let's find a food truck that's More-us." And they come here.

  4. Delicious option for street food, if you can find the funky grilled cheese truck.

I had the classic with  cheddar and landaff cheese.  For $5.75 the sandwich was quite a deal, bursting with cheesy goodness.

The kettle chips weren't quite up to par, and I wasn't blown away by the homemade root beer.  (I should have gotten the Mexican Coca-Cola with real sugar!)

Minor quibbles wouldn't prevent me from visiting the Morris Truck again. Very good grilled cheese!

  5. I tasted the Delicate Cheese (Truffle Butter + Truffle Cheese + Caramelized Shallots) at Broadway Bites which was good but not that special.  It cost $10.

    Cons:

    – There wasn't enough cheese; with the exception of a small pocket in the center (which was great) it was more like toast with cheese than a complete grilled cheese
    – There weren't enough caramelized shallots either; you could barely taste them

    Pros:

    – The pocket in the middle with sufficient cheese was gooey and tasty like grilled cheese should be
    – It wasn't too oily
    – The bread was toasted perfectly
    – You can definitely taste the truffles
    – The added salt gives it another layer of flavor

    Conclusion:

If they could nail down the ratio of cheese to shallots to bread I would have enjoyed it a lot more.  I realize that truffle cheese is more expensive than other types so more cheese might drive the price of the sandwich up too much, but in that case I would prefer they do a blend of truffle cheese and another, less expensive cheese.  When I eat grilled cheese I'm looking for that ooey-gooey bite which reminds my of my childhood, and even when upgrading for a more refined, truffle version I still want that reminiscent feeling.

Overall, the truck definitely has potential and I've heard great things about some of their other sandwiches, particularly the Pollos Hermanos, so I'll have to return and give that a try.

  6. As a fan of grilled cheese sandwiches, I really wanted to like this cool-looking food truck.

I tried the Classic grilled cheese sandwich. I don't think it was bad, but I was expecting a lot better from all the positive reviews. The bread was well toasted, but the cheese was too tangy for my liking (probably from the Landaff cheese).

I do want to go back to try their sandwich with truffle butter and truffle cheese, but I don't know if I'd pay $10 for a grilled cheese sandwich that I wasn't too fond of the 1st time around.

  7. At almost 32 years old, this was my first ever grilled cheese…..yes I know theres something wrong with me.

So we go to Beer for Beast this weekend at the Bell House and the Morris Truck was there.  I have made grilled cheese millions of time but never actually ate one myself.  So walking up to the truck and seeing the guy behind the counter eating his own work, I said you know what this is probably really good.

Oooooeeyyy Goooeeeeyyyy Theresa your an idiot for not trying this sooner!  My god was I missing out!!

The guys of Morris Truck were awesome and super nice.  The grilled cheeses were awesome.  Go with the "Classic" all the way.  Another one that I had to be dragged away from the line.

It was so good when I went food shopping the following morning, I picked a bunch of cheese to make some for lunch!

  8. Hands down some of the best grilled cheese I've ever had, and the guys that work the truck are hilarious! I had the "Delicate Cheese", and how could you say no to a grilled cheese with truffle butter and caramelized onions? The cheese is rich and gooey and they really slather on the butter. As other reviews mention, they press it down a lot so the sandwich appears thin, but it's filling enough for lunch.

4 stars only because $10 is still very high for bread+butter+cheese, no matter how "gourmet" it is.
